Jose Mourinho completely understands why Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino teared up following the club’s fantastic turnaround against Ajax.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At half-time of the second leg in Amsterdam, Spurs were 3-0 down but managed to score three goals in 45 minutes to book their place in the Champions League final.<\/p>\n

  3. It was seemingly game over after\u00a0Hakim Ziyech doubled their lead and tripled it across the two legs.<\/li>\n
  4. However, a frantic second half saw Lucas Moura score an incredible hattrick, netting in the last seconds to secure his side’s place in the final.<\/li>\n

    Speaking after Tottenham’s triumph over Ajax in the most unlikely of circumstances, former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Mourinho – who has won two Champions League titles in his career so far – commented on Pochettino’s emotional response to the club’s success.<\/p>\n

    Stating that managers can sometimes feel lonely in the job, Mourinho completely gets the tears shed by the Argentine. He said:\u00a0“They don’t know. Sometimes the football fans think they care more than us, they think it’s just them.<\/p>\n

    “[Fans think:] ‘Win a big match and enjoy, lose a match and go sad but tomorrow is another day.’ Sometimes they don’t know what we are like behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

    “[Coaches] are normally a very lonely person, in that football consumes a lot.<\/p>\n

    “It [Pochettino’s tears] is a very beautiful way to show the world that for us managers, it means much more than for the ordinary fan, in defeat and in victory too.”<\/p>\n
