Former Liverpool forward Robbie Fowler has hit out at Luis Suarez for the way he left the club in 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Suarez spent three-and-a-half years with the Reds and was a big part of Brendan Rodgers’ team which went so close to winning the Premier League in 2013\/14.<\/p>\n

  1. Luis Suarez joined Liverpool in 2011 and spent three-and-a-half years with the club.<\/li>\n
  2. He would leave for Barcelona 2014 shortly after his 31 goals almost saw Liverpool win the Premier League.<\/li>\n
  3. The move came a year after Suarez had tried to force a move to Arsenal after growing unhappy at Liverpool.<\/li>\n
  4. And Robbie Fowler criticised Liverpool fans for their adoration of Suarez, prior to Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Uruguayan would then leave for Barcelona at the end of that campaign, where he has enjoyed considerable success since.<\/p>\n

    But Fowler, who came through the club’s academy, believes Suarez disrespected Liverpool in the way he left – having previously looked to push through a move to Arsenal a season earlier.<\/p>\n

    “Look, I\u2019m a big fan of him as a player, I thought he was brilliant while he was here,” he told BT Sport prior to Liverpool’s game against Barcelona.<\/p>\n

    “But I have a big problem with the way the fans love him, I really do. Because he left Liverpool, the way he left, he wanted to go and move to Arsenal.<\/p>\n

    “All of a sudden people go: \u2018oh, he stayed, he was still brilliant, he never downed tools\u2019.”<\/p>\n

    Fowler went on to express his beliefs Suarez only played well in his final two years at Anfield to push a move away from Liverpool.<\/p>\n

    He added: “He started playing well because he wanted to leave. He wanted to go to Arsenal, if Liverpool would have let him go.<\/p>\n

    “I have a big thing with that, that\u2019s what annoys me about the Liverpool fans, they love him.<\/p>\n

    “I thought his behaviour towards the club, the fans, showed no respect whatsoever.”<\/p>\n

    Any love the Liverpool fans had for Suarez appeared to disintegrate on Tuesday night as he traveled to Anfield with Barcelona looking to secure a place in the Champions League final.<\/p>\n

    Suarez and co. took a 3-0 lead into the second-leg and were expected to ease to Madrid but remarkably lost 4-0 thanks to braces from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum.<\/p>\n

    And the Uruguayan was booed by home fans for his antics on the pitch, seemingly stretching the rules to the maximum and causing Andrew Robertson’s injury just before half-time – though the left-backs replacement Wijnaldum had the last laugh.<\/p>\n

    Fowler: Suarez’s kick on Robertson was ‘typical’<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Clearly not a fan of Suarez, Fowler did not hold back at half-time, shortly after the Uruguayan had caused an injury to Robertson.<\/p>\n

    While at normal speed it appeared the collision was nothing more than an accident, with Robertson running into Suarez mid-stride, replays showed hints of a kick-out from the Barcelona man.<\/p>\n

    And Fowler appeared unsurprised, telling BT Sport: “This one is typical of Suarez.<\/p>\n

    “He kicks out, not once but twice. Robertson obviously goes down, I don\u2019t know if he\u2019s got a dead leg because of that.<\/p>\n

    “You see him going over there, maybe that\u2019s the \u2018respect\u2019 he was talking out before the game.<\/p>\n
