Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed defender Raphael Varane will not be leaving the club this summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Zidane has a rebuilding job to do following his return to the La Liga giants after a disappointing season for Madrid both domestically and in Europe.<\/p>\n

  1. Raphael Varane joined Real Madrid in 2011 from Ligue 1 outfit Lens for just\u00a0\u20ac10\u00a0million.<\/li>\n
  2. The defender has gone on to amass 274 appearances for Madrid in all competitions, scoring 12 goals.<\/li>\n
  3. In that time he has helped the club win two La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, three Uefa Super Cups among many other honours.<\/li>\n
  4. The 26-year-old also won the World Cup last summer in Russia as France defeated Croatia 4-2 in the final.<\/li>\n
  5. And despite doubts around his future, Varane will be remaining at Real Madrid according to Zinedine Zidane.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Speaking to reporters following Real Madrid’s shock 1-0 loss to relegation-threatened\u00a0Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, Zidane had plenty to say regarding the future of the club.<\/p>\n

    With Zidane returning to help transform Madrid back into the dominant force it was once, the Frenchman clearly believes that Varane is a vital ingredient to that very task.<\/p>\n

    He said:\u00a0“The positive point of this season finale is that Varane will stay.<\/p>\n

    “I’ve been gone for a while and now I’m back, I do not have any problems with that right now.<\/p>\n

    “The season has to end, because it’s true that we have complications and there’s nothing at stake. It’s complicated.<\/p>\n

    “We have to think about the future and finish the last three games well.”<\/p>\n

    Varane has been linked with a move away from Madrid this summer following revelations that the Frenchman wanted a new challenge in his career.<\/p>\n

    Clubs such as Manchester United and Juventus are reportedly keen on bringing him to their respective clubs to help rebuild damaged and ageing defences.<\/p>\n

    However, Zidane’s latest comments mirror what he has said in the past and other those interested little hope.<\/p>\n

    Previously he has told reporters<\/a>: “I can tell you he is very happy here, has been here eight years, has done phenomenal so far.<\/p>\n

    “I don\u2019t see him as people have said recently, he looks happy and committed in what he is doing.”<\/p>\n
