The agent of Marco Asensio has revealed Real Madrid have rejected a number of offers for his client, with figures reaching as high as \u20ac180m.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Asensio, 23, has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence in the Spanish capital after initially bursting onto the scene with\u00a0Mallorca five years ago.<\/p>\n

  1. Asensio joined Real from Mallorca in 2014 and has since made 131 appearances for the club.<\/li>\n
  2. A productive loan spell with Espanyol in 2015\/16 caught the attention of\u00a0Zinedine Zidane who gradually incorporated him into the first-team fold the following year.<\/li>\n
  3. Asensio has never truly cemented a starting berth at Real despite his obvious talents, with the forward yet to start over 20 La Liga matches in a single season.<\/li>\n
  4. As a result, the Spain international has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League.<\/li>\n
  5. His agent has now revealed Real have previously received huge sums of money for his services, but the club have not entertained any offers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Despite emerging as one of Spain’s brightest stars in recent years, the attacking maestro has often found significant starting opportunities hard to come by at the Bernabeu.<\/p>\n

    Last season Asensio started just 19 La Liga matches, and this term he’s mustered only 18, leading to reports of a summer move away from the club, with both Liverpool and Juventus believed to be eyeing up his signature.<\/p>\n

    However, his agent, Horacio Gaggioli, has now told ESPN<\/a> that his client still has aspirations of becoming a success at Real, and so does the club by all accounts, given the exorbitant fees they have rejected for the player.<\/p>\n

    He said:\u00a0“Over the last year there have been offers as high as \u20ac150m and \u20ac180m, but Madrid did not want to listen to them.<\/p>\n

    “There is always interest in Marco from other big clubs, seeing if he wanted to leave, which is normal for the player he is.<\/p>\n

    “But he always says that he is very happy with Madrid, is only interested in being a success there. He is still a young kid, improving all the time, and the club is very happy with him too.”<\/p>\n

    Asensio to thrive under Zidane?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Asensio often sat on the periphery of first-team action under former coach Santiago Solari, who preferred to utilise Vinicius Junior and Lucas Vazquez out wide.<\/p>\n

    However, his successor has shown more faith in the 20-time Spain international, affording Asensio five starts in the club’s last six La Liga matches.<\/p>\n

    And it is that trust, coupled with his prominent involvement for the national team under Luis Enrique, that Gaggioli believes Asensio will go on to achieve great things in Madrid.<\/p>\n

    He added:\u00a0“This year it has been difficult for everyone at Madrid, it has not been a good year for anyone at the club. These things can happen in football — the whole team dropped their level, not just Marco.<\/p>\n

    “Maybe there was more a focus on Asensio as he had shown such a high level before, there was lots of expectation, and it has not worked out this year. But on an individual level it is not easy if the team is not playing well.<\/p>\n

    “It does not matter who you are, whether you are Lionel Messi or Diego Maradona. But Marco has played well with Spain, has become a regular with the senior international team.<\/p>\n

    “He is just thinking now about next season, and winning things again with Real Madrid.”<\/p>\n
