Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed it is his dream to one day play in Italy’s Serie A.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This comes after the forward admitted he came close to joining Italian champions Juventus in 2014.<\/p>\n

  1. In 2014, Romelu Lukaku was a Chelsea player when Juventus inquired about his services but he eventually joined Everton.<\/li>\n
  2. Following success at Goodison Park – scoring 87 goals in 166 matches in all competitions – Lukaku joined United in 2017 for \u00a375 million.<\/li>\n
  3. To date, Lukaku has scored 42 goals in 95 games for United.<\/li>\n
  4. However, with just 12 Premier League goals this season, the 25-year-old has drawn criticism for his poor form.<\/li>\n
  5. Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sell Lukaku this summer<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    With United’s form far from ideal as they hunt down a place in the Premier League’s top four, Lukaku has perhaps spoken at the wrong moment about his future in professional football.<\/p>\n

    Speaking to reporters<\/a>, the former West Bromwich Albion loanee admitted that he once came close to joining Juventus and despite the move failing to materialise, he still dreams of plying his trade on Italian soil.<\/p>\n

    Lukaku said: “In 2014 when I was leaving Chelsea, I could have joined Juventus.<\/p>\n

    “The Bianconeri had come forward, but something didn\u2019t convince me. I said no and Everton acquired me, the next day [Antonio] Conte left the team.<\/p>\n

    “Playing in Italy would be a dream for me, I already know a few Italian words since my brother [left-back Jordan Lukaku] has been at Lazio for many years.<\/p>\n

    “At the moment I\u2019m focused on the present, which is Man United and reaching fourth place which is the objective we set for the season.”<\/p>\n

    “Obvious limitations” vs “would love him to stay”<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Naturally, Lukaku’s comments have seen the Twitterverse come alive with negative opinions and frustrations hitting their stride.<\/p>\n

    Despite Lukaku admitting the aim was to finish in the top-four at the start of the season after finishing second last year, United fans have seemingly ignored that statement and taken swipe at his general form this season.<\/p>\n

    One person described the \u00a375 million striker as having “obvious limitations” and went into detail in what those were.<\/p>\n
