Former Downing Street press secretary Alastair Campbell does not believe Pep Guardiola<\/span> or Jurgen Klopp<\/span> would be able to replicate the achievements of Sean Dyche<\/span> at Burnley<\/span>. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ex-press officer – a Burnley<\/span> fan – has lauded the ability of Dyche<\/span> to maximise the resources at his disposal and accentuate the assets of his Burnley<\/span> players.<\/p>\n

  1. Dyche<\/span> took the reins at\u00a0Turf Moor in 2012.<\/li>\n
  2. Since then he has overseen two promotions to the Premier League<\/span> and all-but guaranteed Burnley<\/span>‘s status in the top-flight for next season.<\/li>\n
  3. Last term he guided the Clarets<\/span> to their best top-flight finish since 1974 and reached\u00a0Europa League qualification for the first time in over half a century.<\/li>\n
  4. A number of Burnley<\/span> players have received England call-ups under Dyche<\/span>‘s guidance including Jack Cork, Nick Pope and\u00a0James Tarkowski.<\/li>\n
  5. As such, Alastair Campbell does not think that either Guardiola<\/span> or Klopp could have done as good of a job as Dyche<\/span> were they in charge of the club.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Since taking the Burnley<\/span> helm in 2012, Dyche<\/span> has enjoyed promotion twice and guided the club to their highest top-flight finish since 1974.<\/p>\n

    This season he has unearthed the prodigious talents of teenager\u00a0Dwight McNeil, and all but secured Burnley<\/span>‘s status in the top-flight after a 2-2 draw with Chelsea<\/span> at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.<\/p>\n

    Speaking after the match, Campbell – a former spokesman and campaign director of Tony Blair – was keen to wax lyrical about Dyche<\/span>, who he believes ranks above Guardiola<\/span>, Klopp, Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho<\/span> on the managerial spectrum.<\/p>\n

    “Do not\u00a0underestimate what an amazing success story Burnley<\/span> has been over the past few seasons,” he told\u00a0Sky Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    “I’m not convinced Guardiola<\/span>, Wenger, Mourinho<\/span>, Klopp or any of them would have done as well at Burnley<\/span> as Sean Dyche<\/span> has done.”<\/p>\n

    When asked whether he thinks Dyche<\/span> is a better manager than them, he responded: “I think he has done better for Burnley<\/span> than they would have done.<\/p>\n

    “When you look at the Chelsea<\/span> game objectively, player against player, you think he’s better than ours, he’s paid more, he’s worth more – virtually every single game we have that.<\/p>\n

    “And yet, he grinds out results and plays some very good football, despite the long-ball reputation, and has some quality players.<\/p>\n

    “I reckon Dyche<\/span> can win the Premier League<\/span> or Champions League with City or Liverpool<\/span>. I don’t think Klopp or Guardiola<\/span> could do what Dyche<\/span> has done at Burnley<\/span>.”<\/p>\n

    Dyche responds to “anti-football” dig<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Following the 2-2 draw with Chelsea<\/span>, David Luiz took aim at the tactics of Burnley<\/span>, accusing the Lancashire club of time wasting.<\/p>\n

    However, Dyche<\/span> has since responded to the Brazilian’s swipe, suggesting he would love to have the luxury of\u00a0Maurizio Sarri to spend lavishly in every position, but that he is proud of the work his club have done to retain their Premier League<\/span> status.<\/p>\n

    When asked about Luiz’s comments, Dyche<\/span> said<\/a>: “They can have whatever opinion they want. Everyone is allowed an opinion.<\/p>\n

    “If we could afford the players they have, I’d love \u2013 all managers \u2013 to play 600 pass football and win all the time. But it’s simply not that easy. You have to do what you do to win and be successful.<\/p>\n

    “Look at the amount of players we’ve developed, the diligence of the group, where the players have come from to play in the Premier League<\/span>… You have to enjoy the moment, and we certainly enjoyed the moment.”<\/p>\n
