Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned his Manchester United players they are likely to face some robust tactics during Wednesday night’s Manchester derby.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Old Trafford clash is Manchester City’s game in hand over Premier League leaders Liverpool and Pep Guardiola’s side know they can go top of the table and take control of the title race with a win.<\/p>\n

    For United, they have the unenviable task of all-but handing the title to one of their closest rivals, with Solskjaer’s side needing the points as they hunt down a Champions League qualification spot.<\/p>\n

    And the Norwegian has warned his players that their Manchester rivals will ‘snap at your ankles and kick you’ as they relentlessly press for possession.<\/p>\n

    “We’ve got to be ready for the press, for their pressing so we’ve got to defend well, got to be ready for your aggression,” he told<\/a> reporters.<\/p>\n

    “They will snap at your heels and ankles and and kick you, they won\u2019t allow us easy counter attacking, there will be fouls, absolutely no doubt about it and when you watch those games they commit so many players forward.”<\/p>\n

    Solskjaer and his players will undoubtedly still be hurting from their 4-0 mauling at the hands of Everton on Sunday, where they simply could not match the intensity of their Merseyside hosts.<\/p>\n

    However, the United boss believes Wednesday’s derby could be the perfect tonic for his squad and is confident they will have the backing of the Old Trafford faithful.<\/p>\n

    “We had a meeting after the game and all the players were definitely definitely disappointed but really really hurt by that performance and City game is the perfect one.<\/p>\n

    “There\u2019s no hiding place on the pitch and the fans will back you if you give that effort against a City side that\u2019s been very very good, we have got to turn up.”<\/p>\n
