Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has attracted the attention of Ligue 1 outfit Nice, according to club president\u00a0Gauthier Ganaye.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The French forward has struggled for game time and consistency since joining the west London club from Arsenal at the beginning of 2018.<\/p>\n

  1. Giroud amassed 253 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 105 goals.<\/li>\n
  2. Since moving to Chelsea, he has scored 17 times in 53 outings.<\/li>\n
  3. However, he has only scored twice in the Premier League this season, having been limited to just seven starts for Maurizio Sarri’s men.<\/li>\n
  4. The 32-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season.<\/li>\n
  5. However, with Chelsea’s transfer ban looming, they are expected to extend the striker’s deal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A World Cup winner last summer – without scoring a single goal for France en-route to the trophy in Russia – Giroud hasn’t enjoyed life at Stamford Bridge, with Sarri hesitant in using the target man throughout the season.<\/p>\n

    This has prompted rumours of a potential departure from England with Nice president Ganaye confirming that the club would be interested in bringing the striker to Ligue 1 this summer.<\/p>\n

    However, Ganaye also acknowledged that the player’s current salary may prove to be a stumbling block in any proposed deal.<\/p>\n

    “He is at the end of his contract, he still performs well at his age,”\u00a0Ganaye told\u00a0Telefoot (via Goal<\/a>).<\/p>\n

    “Come on, let’s tell you it’s possible. His salary? Yeah, it’s really expensive.”<\/p>\n

    Giroud’s legacy in England<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Since arriving at Arsenal from\u00a0Montpellier back in 2012, Giroud has gone on to establish himself as a man who knows where the back of the net is.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Indeed, his goal record for the Gunners is one goal every 2.4 games in all competitions, which is a solid standard.<\/p>\n

    His trophy cabinet has had some major additions across the years, most notably the FA Cup which he has won on no less than four occasions, three times with Arsenal (2013\u201314, 2014\u201315, 2016\u201317) and once with the Blues (2017-18).<\/p>\n

    His best personal season was in 2015-16 when he scored 24 goals in 53 games in all competitions for Arsenal and although his time with Chelsea has been frustrating, on his day there are few players who can provide the ammunition that the Frenchman can.<\/p>\n

    His hold-up play and ability to assist a teammate are both qualities that will be missed if he reverts back to French football.<\/p>\n
