Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes his side are fighting for the Premier League title against “the best Liverpool ever”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

City currently trail the Reds by just two points but Guardiola’s side could leapfrog their title rivals with a victory against Manchester United on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

  1. Liverpool have only lost one league game all season and have conceded just 20 goals – the least amount of any club.<\/li>\n
  2. They returned to the top of the PL table with a 2-0 win against the Bluebirds this afternoon.<\/li>\n
  3. Klopp could also take the Anfield club to their second consecutive Champions League final if they beat Barcelona next month.<\/li>\n
  4. Should Liverpool concede less than four goals during their final three PL fixtures they will record their best defensive return since 1979 (16).<\/li>\n

    The Merseyside club travelled to the Welsh capital looking to extend their 17-match unbeaten run across all competitions as they faced stern competition in\u00a0Neil Warnock’s battling Bluebirds.<\/p>\n

    Goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner secured three points that took Liverpool back to the top of the table, but Guardiola has stressed that the title race is firmly in City’s hands despite facing what he believes is the greatest Liverpool side ever.<\/p>\n

    “The title is still in our hands,” said<\/a> Guardiola.<\/p>\n

    “Every day with this club and these players – it doesn’t matter what happens next – we’ll fight until the end.<\/p>\n

    “We’ll see how far we get. We are fighting with the best Liverpool ever, one of the best teams I’ve seen in my life.”<\/p>\n

    Liverpool have the more favourable fixture list for the title run-in, with the Merseyside club facing Huddersfield Town, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.<\/p>\n

    For Guardiola, the immediate forecast looks slightly bleaker with the North West giants locking horns with adversaries Manchester United on Wednesday, though the club no longer have the distraction of Champions League football.<\/p>\n

    City were eliminated from the competition at the hands of Spurs on Wednesday, but exacted revenge with 1-0 league win on Saturday; and with those vital three points, Guardiola believes his side will need to clinch victory for their remaining games to have any chance of securing back-to-back titles.<\/p>\n

    “It was very important for the race for the Premier League. We know we cannot drop points,” added Guardiola<\/p>\n

    “We have been playing for the Premier League every three days for 10 months. You can feel the pressure.<\/p>\n

    “We could have lost the Premier League today – after Wednesday it was really tough. As a footballer, I could not have done what my players have done today.”<\/p>\n
