Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Liverpool will clinch their first ever Premier League title this season.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Reds are currently battling it out at the summit of the table with Manchester City in a title race that could go right down to the final game of the season.<\/p>\n

  1. Liverpool are top of the league by two points but have played a game more than Man City.<\/li>\n
  2. Jurgen Klopp has already conceded his side must win all their remaining games to have any chance of winning the title.<\/li>\n
  3. With just four games remaining, Liverpool face Cardiff, Huddersfield, Newcastle and Wolves.<\/li>\n
  4. City, meanwhile, still have to play Spurs and Man Utd in their remaining fixtures.<\/li>\n
  5. Due to the tricky schedule for City, Ferguson believes they will drop points and Liverpool will ultimately go on to win the title.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Liverpool last claimed a top-flight domestic title 29 years ago, and with Pep Guardiola’s side still to face Spurs and the small matter of a Manchester Derby, Ferguson has tipped the Merseyside club to prevail.<\/p>\n

    Former Burnley forward Jonathan Walters was the man responsible for blowing the lid on Ferguson’s prediction after he was notified by ex-teammate and United academy graduate, Phil Bardsley.<\/p>\n

    Speaking on the BBC Radio 5 LIVE\u2019s Football Daily podcast, Walters said: “I was chatting with Phil Bardsley and I\u2019m going to drop a name here, he was sat with Sir Alex Ferguson.<\/p>\n

    “He sat with him and he thinks Liverpool are going to win it.<\/p>\n

    “He thinks Liverpool because he thinks United will get something out of the City game.”<\/p>\n

    United must rest players for City – Neville<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Despite Ferguson’s forecast that United will take points off their cross-city adversaries in the Manchester Derby, Gary Neville has advised\u00a0Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to rest players for the match.<\/p>\n

    United face Chelsea just four days after the midweek bout, and with the 13-time Premier League champions locked in a four-way battle for a Champions League qualification spot, Neville believes Solskjaer should prioritise for the weekend fixture.<\/p>\n

    “It\u2019s a huge ten or eleven days from Barcelona through to Chelsea,” Neville said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    “Sunday is the most winnable out of those three games and if Manchester United were to win on Sunday, if they beat City but lose to Chelsea they still end up out of the top four.<\/p>\n

    “You cannot play the same players during four games in eleven days. If they beat Everton, my thought would be that they make two or three changes against City whilst still trying to get the result.”<\/p>\n
