Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has opened up on his horrendous miss during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Strasbourg.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With injuries and fatigue taking their tole, Thomas Tuchel handed the ex-Stoke striker a rare start and was instantly rewarded when he opened the scoring in the 13th minute with just his third goal of the season.<\/p>\n

    However, after Strasbourg had equalised, Choupo-Moting had the chance to restore PSG’s lead and double his tally for the day but somehow diverted Christopher Nkunku’s goal-bound shot onto the post from the goal line.<\/p>\n

    PSG then fell behind before an 82nd-minute goal from Thilo Kehrer rescued a point for the Parisians, although they will have to wait another week to seal the Ligue 1 title.<\/p>\n

    Opening up on his horror show, Choupo-Moting said: “I thought Nkunku was going to give it to me – and then I thought the defender was going to get it.<\/p>\n

    “I wondered if I was offside and it all happened very fast. I touched the ball, it hit the post and, well, it’s a real shame because the ball was going in.<\/p>\n

    “Sorry about that.”<\/p>\n

    Despite the bizarre nature of his miss, Tuchel was quick to back Choupo-Moting, claiming the 30-year-old is a ‘great substitute’ and is just low on confidence.<\/p>\n

    “I think he’s lacking confidence,” Tuchel said. “He’s not here to start every game but he is at the moment because we have a lot of injuries.<\/p>\n

    “It’s not his role. He’s a great substitute.”<\/p>\n

    Twitter reacts to Choupo-Moting’s embarrassing miss<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Teammate Kylian Mbappe – who was introduced at half-time – was quick to back Choupo-Moting after the game with a tweet<\/a> that read: “Shame about the title tonight, we tried to do what we could.<\/p>\n

    “Big up to Choupo-Moting. I have missed a lot more than you have this season, we stay united as a group and we will support you until the end.”<\/p>\n

    However, the rest of Twitter was far less forgiving, with fans showing absolutely no mercy in adding to the embarrassment.<\/p>\n
