Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze has revealed he still speaks to Jurgen Klopp\u00a0“often” amid talk of a reunion between the pair at Liverpool.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gotze’s former Dortmund teammate\u00a0Kevin Grosskreutz recently tipped Gotze to leave Dortmund and work with Klopp again following a mixed second spell at Westfalenstadion.<\/p>\n

  1. Gotze initially left Dortmund for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2013 before scoring the winning goal in the World Cup final for Germany a year later.<\/li>\n
  2. While that goal was the pinnacle of his career, Gotze struggled at Bayern and returned to Dortmund for the 2016\/17 season.<\/li>\n
  3. He has been in and out of the Dortmund team with injuries and inconsistent performances since then, although his recent form has improved during the team’s title push.<\/li>\n
  4. The German’s contract expires next summer so Dortmund may decide to cash in or risk him running his deal down.<\/li>\n
  5. Gotze has scored four goals and provided six assists in 19 Bundesliga appearances this term.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Gotze has now revealed he spoke to Klopp, who had joined Liverpool in the months prior, when he was thinking about leaving Bayern in the summer of 2016.<\/p>\n

    The 26-year-old also confessed he still speaks to Klopp now.<\/p>\n

    “He [Klopp] knew that I wanted to leave Bayern. Of course, we talked. He knows me very well and that I am always looking for new challenges,” Gotze told German outlet Bild<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    “I often speak to Klopp. He brought me to the first team when I was 17 and he made it all possible. We never stopped talking.”<\/p>\n

    Gotze: Guardiola and Klopp “difficult to compare”<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    During his career, Gotze has played under the two managers currently battling it out for the Premier League title with Manchester City and Liverpool respectively.<\/p>\n

    Gotze worked with Guardiola at Bayern and Klopp at Dortmund but says it is hard to compare the two vastly different coaches.<\/p>\n

    He added: “They are difficult to compare because they pursue different philosophies. The fact is that both are extremely successful.<\/p>\n

    “I am grateful to have worked with two such outstanding coaches. I watch the games of both teams as often as possible, the title fight in the Premier League is extremely exciting.”<\/p>\n
