No Liverpool player would get into Manchester City’s side, according to Joleon Lescott.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ex-City defender also thinks Pep Guardiola already has his own version of Virgil van Dijk, who is now talked about as one of the best centre-backs in world football.<\/p>\n

  1. Liverpool are two points ahead of City in the Premier League table having played a game more.<\/li>\n
  2. Van Dijk has played a key role for the Reds this season with the club conceding the fewest goals in the league so far (18).<\/li>\n
  3. However, Joleon Lescott doesn’t think any Liverpool player would get into City’s team.<\/li>\n
  4. Lescott also believes Aymeric Laporte has had a similar effect on his team to that of Van Dijk at Liverpool.<\/li>\n
  5. Van Dijk has won 146 aerial duels compared to Laporte’s 58 this term.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Lescott won two Premier League titles during his time with City and with the club currently battling out with Liverpool for another top-flight crown, the 36-year-old has had his say on the two sides.<\/p>\n

    “Both Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp will each be happy with their own team and their players suit their styles of football,” Lescott told talkSport <\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

    “I\u2019m not sure I\u2019d take a single one of\u00a0Liverpool\u2019s players for Man City\u2019s team, but it\u2019s fair to say both have put together great squads.<\/p>\n

    “From a Man City perspective, I have been very impressed with Aymeric Laporte this season, who has arguably made a similar impact to what Virgil van Dijk has at Liverpool.”<\/p>\n

    Whether it is a result of what he sees on the pitch or down to his Man City and Everton background, Lescott also feels sure his former club will edge Liverpool out, to deliver their fourth title in seven years, retaining it for the first time in their history.<\/p>\n

    “I expect Manchester City to go on to win the Premier League,” he added. “It is interesting that they\u2019ve been able to overtake Liverpool so quickly.<\/p>\n

    “I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a surprise that Man City have won the games they have, but rather that Liverpool have dropped points in recent weeks.<\/p>\n
