Teddy Sheringham believes Manchester United have already appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a permanent basis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Solskjaer suffered just his third defeat since taking over against Wolves in the FA Cup on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

  1. Solskjaer was placed in charge on an interim basis following Jose Mourinho’s sacking in December.<\/li>\n
  2. The Norwegian has led United to 14 wins from his opening 19 matches in charge, reaching the Champions League quarter-finals in the process.<\/li>\n
  3. Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was initially tipped as the favourite to take over at Old Trafford this summer.<\/li>\n
  4. But Solskjaer’s impressive reign has led to calls for the former striker to be given the full-time job.<\/li>\n
  5. Sheringham is the latest onlooker to suggest Solskjaer has already agreed to stay on.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Despite losing their last two games, including a potentially costly defeat at Arsenal in the race for a top four finish, Solskjaer has been widely praised for the job he has done.<\/p>\n

    And Sheringham, who joined Solskjaer on the scoresheet in the 1999 Champions League final, claims to have heard his former teammate has already agreed a deal to take over on a full-time basis.<\/p>\n

    “I’ve heard they’ve given it to him already,” Sheringham told BBC 5live.<\/p>\n

    Wolves defeat “the poorest we’ve played”<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Solskjaer was uncharacteristically downbeat after his side’s 2-1 at Wolves in the FA Cup.<\/p>\n

    United struggled to break the hosts down until Marcus Rashford’s late consolation goal, and Solskjaer made sure his players knew what he thought of their performance after the game.<\/p>\n

    “This was the poorest we’ve played,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    “We started too slowly and played into their hands. Our possession wasn’t bright enough and quick enough, so it’s disappointing.”<\/p>\n
