That’s because Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool only play once in Gameweek 33, meaning there’s a balance to be struck — particularly if you’re weighing up using a Free Hit chip or playing your Wildcard.<\/p>\n

Throw all your eggs in the luxury basket or plump for the cheaper players who will likely get 180 minutes over the coming days? We’ve tried to make those decisions easier for you by picking out a blend of big-ticket options and value selections.<\/p>\n

Goalkeepers<\/h2>\n

Kasper Schmeichel (\u00a34.9M):<\/strong> Don’t blow your budget on a goalkeeper this weekend, with value options preparing for two fixtures. Kasper Schmeichel has been a brilliant shot-stopper for Leicester and ranks joint-second for most saves inside the box (72) among Premier League goalkeepers in 2021\/22. He also sits fourth overall for saves made (103) ahead of kind Gameweek 33 matches against Newcastle and Everton.<\/p>\n

Martin Dubravka (\u00a34.4M):<\/strong> Still don’t fancy the Foxes No1 to deliver a decent FPL haul? Perhaps Martin Dubravka is the man for you this weekend. The Slovakian is primed for a good gameweek as the Toon head into back-to-back games at St. James’ Park. Newcastle are unbeaten at home in 2022 (W4 D1), conceding only three goals at St. James’ Park since the turn of the year.<\/p>\n

Defenders<\/h2>\n

Joao Cancelo (\u00a37.0M):<\/strong> If you’re playing your Wildcard or Free Hit it can be tempting to cram your squad full of Double Gameweek-ers (yes, that’s a technical term). However, you’d be stupid to overlook some of the FPL superstars who are due to play only once in Gameweek 33. Cancelo not only plays for the team with the joint-most clean sheets this season (18), he is also a huge attacking threat. No defender has registered more shots on target this year (20), while he also ranks first among defenders for open-play XG (2.83) and second for expected assists (5.33).<\/p>\n

Gabriel (\u00a35.4M):<\/strong> But if you’re blowing a decent wedge on a defender, perhaps Gabriel represents a safer bet. Arsenal haven\u2019t lost to Southampton in the league since 2018 (W4 D2 L0), while out-of-form Saints have picked up just one point from a possible 15. Arsenal currently rank fourth behind only Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City for clean sheets this season and also have a second fixture, albeit at Stamford Bridge, in Gameweek 33.<\/p>\n

Midfielders<\/h2>\n

Son Heung-min (\u00a311.1M):<\/strong> Tottenham are a team in form at the moment, with four straight wins and 15 points from a possible 18. Son Heung-min is an obvious threat for Spurs and that is reflected by his FPL output, with 48 points across the last three gameweeks alone. No Premier League player has scored more goals than his 16 from open play this season — three more than Liverpool\u2019s Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota.<\/p>\n

Bruno Fernandes (\u00a311.6M):<\/strong> Do you have space for two big-ticket midfielders? If not, it could come down to a straight shootout between Son and Bruno Fernandes. The former might be a man in form, but the latter has two fixtures. Creator-in-chief Fernandes ranks first for chances created in the Premier League this season (80), with only perennial goal provider Trent Alexander-Arnold outperforming him in terms of expected assists (xA).<\/p>\n

James Maddison (\u00a37.0M):<\/strong> To make space for the superstars, you’ll want someone who can deliver a decent FPL score on a modest budget, and Leicester have an appetising double-header in Gameweek 33. Maddison is Brendan Rodgers’ go-to man for a creative spark, with no Leicester player providing more chances (36) or having more shots on target (25) this season. The Foxes have scored a combined 16 goals in their last five meetings with the Newcastle, so If there are goals you can expect Maddison to be involved.<\/p>\n

Bukayo Saka (\u00a36.8M):<\/strong> An alternative value asset for this coming weekend is Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka (heck, why not throw them both in and save some funds to cram in a more expensive option elsewhere?). Forwards<\/h2>\n

Harry Kane (\u00a312.6M):<\/strong> Not only does he rank fifth for goals scored (12) this season and fourth in xG (15.07), he has also created more big chances (16) than any other striker in the league. Spurs have won four of their last five games against Brighton (all competitions), with Kane scoring five of the 10 goals that Brighton have conceded across those fixtures. He only plays once in Gameweek 33, but you’d still be daft to bet against him matching the hauls of those with two fixtures.<\/p>\n

Cristiano Ronaldo (\u00a312.2M):<\/strong> OK, you’re set on picking a luxury forward with two fixtures. That or you’re somehow able to crowbar in two expensive frontmen. Ronaldo may not have set the league alight this year, but he is still Manchester United\u2019s main man with more goals per 90 minutes than any other player in his side (0.54). This is certainly one to keep in mind as they face Norwich, who have the second-worst defensive record in the league, shipping 63 goals in 31 matches. United then travel to Liverpool on Tuesday night — Ronaldo has never scored for United at Anfield and will be determined to get that particular monkey off his back.<\/p>\n

Chris Wood (\u00a36.7M):<\/strong> So you’ve blown your budget on some (or all!) of the above? Let’s take a look at some value options to make up your Gameweek 33 XI. No player has won more aerial duels than Chris Wood this season (190), with the Kiwi also ranking first for headed expected goals (3.55). With Leicester\u2019s appalling record from set pieces this year (second-most conceded, with 15), Wood would certainly be one to keep an eye on as Newcastle look to profit from the Foxes’ aerial issues.<\/p>\n

Kelechi Iheanacho (\u00a37.1M):<\/strong> Along with Toon, Leicester have a fairly kind double-header this weekend. With that in mind, Iheanacho looks an intriguing option. The Nigerian has provided more assists per 90 minutes than any other Leicester player in the league this season (0.49). He is also the number one Fox for big chances created per 90 (0.39).<\/p>\n
