However, two of their three wins this term so far, across all competitions, have come against non-Premier League sides. They beat Lech Poznan 4-0 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/europa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Europa<\/a> League and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/middlesbrough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Middlesbrough<\/a> 3-0 in the Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When facing fellow top-tier clubs, their fortunes haven&#8217;t been the same. Just one win over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/fulham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fulham<\/a>, in addition to one draw (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/leeds-united\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leeds United<\/a>) and three losses (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/everton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Everton<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/manchester-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Manchester City<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/ipswich-town\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ipswich Town<\/a>). Though they were arguably unlucky not to win any points against the Toffees and the Tractor Boys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/players\/jean-philippe-mateta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jean-Philippe Mateta<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/players\/eddie-nketiah\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eddie Nketiah<\/a> missed a bunch of big chances before Everton opened the scoring, for example. And Palace were playing well against Ipswich before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/players\/axel-disasi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Axel Disasi<\/a>&#8216;s red card, which changed the whole outlook of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So it&#8217;s fair to say things haven&#8217;t exactly gone well for the Eagles so far in the league. But one of their main &#8211; and perhaps only &#8211; bright sparks has been right-wing-back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/players\/anan-khalaili\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anan Khalaili<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-yoast-seo-table-of-contents yoast-table-of-contents\"><h2>What makes Anan Khalaili&#8217;s start to life in the Premier League so impressive?<\/h2><ul><li><a href=\"#h-combativeness\" data-level=\"3\">Combativeness<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#h-good-connection-with-target-men\" data-level=\"3\">Good connection with target men<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-combativeness\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Combativeness<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Khalaili absolutely does not shy away from any type of contact. But this is because that&#8217;s where Crystal Palace spend most of their time. For starters, while he ranks first in tackles, he is also the player who has been dribbled past the most (10) this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So despite not being a defensive stopper like prime <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/players\/aaron-wan-bissaka\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aaron Wan-Bissaka<\/a> &#8211; who ironically made his name for the Eagles as well -, he is still first in true tackles attempted (33). And his success rate of 64% is the joint-highest of all players in the top-10, alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/brentford\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brentford<\/a>&#8216;s Mamadou Sangare and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/nottingham-forest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nottingham Forest<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/players\/neco-williams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Neco Williams<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Khalaili also embraces attacking challenges, being the second defender with the most take-ons attempted in the Premier League so far (13). Only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/clubs\/newcastle-united\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Newcastle United<\/a>&#8216;s Lewis Halls edges him in this regard (16).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-good-connection-with-target-men\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Good connection with target men<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the contexts surrounding Crystal Palace don&#8217;t exactly allow Khalaili to showcase his attacking talent. Whether it&#8217;s Pierre Sage&#8217;s reactive nature as manager or in-game situations like Axel Disasi&#8217;s early red card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 22-year-old has created just three chances in five Premier League games, an average of 0.7 per 90 minutes. In the English top-flight, however, zero so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Khalaili also showed great ability to find target men inside the box last year. The players who were on the receiving end of his big chances created the most were 6&#8217;3&#8221; German striker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/players\/mateo-biondic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mateo Biondic<\/a> (3) and 6&#8217;5&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.squawka.com\/en\/stats\/players\/promise-david\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Promise David<\/a> (3), now at Brighton and Hove Albion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, two of Khalaili&#8217;s three chances created in the Premier League so far have been for Jorgen Strand Larsen. And they include Larsen&#8217;s biggest chance in terms of expected goals &#8211; a header worth 0.25 xG in stoppage time against Everton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But despite the low attacking involvement, the Israeli full-back has already managed to score in the English top flight.
