They&#8217;ve also reached 10 finals, which is second only to Liverpool (15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seven of those finals and three of those wins have come since Roman Abramovich acquired the club back in 2003. However, Chelsea have fallen to defeat in each of their last three EFL Cup finals, last lifting the trophy back in 2014\/15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a star-studded squad that beat London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Wembley that day. 2015 EFL Cup-winning side<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-gk-petr-cech\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">GK: Petr Cech<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Widely considered the greatest Chelsea goalkeeper of all time and arguably the best the Premier League has seen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cech had lost his place as No.1 to Thibaut Courtois at this point, but still kept his spot in the EFL Cup, making two saves in the final to keep Spurs out. Cech went on to join Arsenal months later, playing 139 games for the Gunners across four seasons before retiring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since calling it a day, Cech embarked on a shock ice hockey career and has served as a technical and performance advisor at Chelsea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-rb-branislav-ivanovic\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">RB: Branislav Ivanovic<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ivanovic was a Chelsea veteran at this point, but continued to hold down his right-back spot for a couple of years after the final. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Serbia international left to join Russian side Zenit in January 2017, and even made a brief Premier League return with West Brom in the 2020\/21 campaign before retiring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-cb-gary-cahill\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">CB: Gary Cahill<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was very much prime Gary Cahill who played in this final, and he remained at Stamford Bridge for another four years following this Wembley triumph. The 61-time England international then saw out his career at Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, and has frequently worked as an ambassador and media pundit for Chelsea since retiring in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-cb-john-terry\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">CB: John Terry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Terry opened the scoring just before half-time with Chelsea&#8217;s first shot on target in the match. There&#8217;s arguably no bigger legend in the club&#8217;s history than JT, but he was on the downward slope by the time this final came around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Terry did two more years with Chelsea before helping Aston Villa reach the Championship playoff final in 2017\/18 &#8212; losing 1-0 to Fulham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former England captain has coached Villa and Leicester since retiring, and is currently working part-time as an academy mentor at Chelsea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-lb-cesar-azpilicueta\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">LB: Cesar Azpilicueta<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was a bruising final for Cesar Azpilicueta, who played the final 15 minutes with a bandage around his head after Eric Dier&#8217;s knee drew blood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Spaniard served another eight years at Chelsea after this final, donning the captain&#8217;s armband, winning numerous other honours and becoming a club legend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Azpilicueta left Chelsea in 2023 for Atletico Madrid and also enjoyed a short spell with Sevilla before hanging up his boots at the end of last season. The versatile defender has proven popular as a pundit since retiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-dm-kurt-zouma\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">DM: Kurt Zouma<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kurt Zouma was fresh from a big-money move from Saint-Etienne during the 2014\/15 season, and he went on to play a notable squad role across the next few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the Frenchman never truly broke through at Stamford Bridge, instead enjoying productive loan spells with the likes of Stoke City and Everton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zouma made a permanent move to West Ham in 2021 and was a vital player for them for three years. He went on loan to Al-Orobah in the Saudi Pro League in 2024\/25 and now turns out for UAE side Palm City after a short stay in Romania with CFR Cluj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His career has been plagued by several off-field controversies in recent years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-cm-ramires\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">CM: Ramires<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ramires had established himself as one of the Premier League&#8217;s best midfielders by this point, with his endless running making him a nightmare to deal with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the Brazilian would only stick around for another six months before making a shock move to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning. Ramires stayed there for three years, before ending his career with Palmeiras in his homeland &#8212; winning a Copa do Brasil, Campeonato Paulista and Copa Libertadores treble in 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 39-year-old still lives back in Brazil and makes occasional appearances in charity matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-cm-cesc-fabregas\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">CM: Cesc Fabregas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;He used to play for Arsenal, but he didn&#8217;t fancy that!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cesc Fabregas&#8217; move to Chelsea in 2014 certainly raised eyebrows given his history with Arsenal, but it didn&#8217;t take long for the Stamford Bridge faithful to take to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Spaniard spent four-and-a-half years in Chelsea blue, winning two league titles, two domestic cups and a Europa League &#8212; the latter triumph culminating in a 4-1 win over the Gunners in the final. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fabregas then went and spent three-and-a-half years with Monaco, before rounding off his playing career at Como, who he now manages in Serie A. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-rw-willian\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">RW: Willian<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Willian was still proving himself in his second season at Chelsea in this final, but he went on to become an iconic figure for the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Brazilian made 339 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions, departing for Arsenal in 2020 with five major honours in the bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Willian only remained at the Emirates for one season before going to Corinthians in his homeland, but he quickly returned to England for two productive spells with Fulham, either side of a short stay at Olympiacos that yielded a Greek Super League title. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At 38 years old, Willian is still going strong with Gremio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-st-diego-costa\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">ST: Diego Costa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diego Costa is probably the closest thing Chelsea have had to prime Didier Drogba, and they both featured in this final. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was Costa&#8217;s first season at Chelsea, and his 21 goals were vital to their domestic double, one of which made it 2-0 in this final against Spurs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, Costa was also a controversial figure, and he left Stamford Bridge for an Atletico Madrid return in September 2017 &#8212; though he couldn&#8217;t feature for the club until January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After another three-and-a-half years in the Spanish capital &#8212; that yielded La Liga and Europa League titles &#8212; Costa&#8217;s career path took some strange turns as it wound down, turning out for Atletico Mineiro, Wolves, Botafogo and Gremio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-lw-eden-hazard\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">LW: Eden Hazard<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eden Hazard absolutely sits alongside the likes of Terry, Drogba, Cech and Frank Lampard in the pantheon of Chelsea&#8217;s greatest-ever players. And few would argue that he is the most entertaining to ever don the blue jersey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Belgian had already spent a couple of years terrorising English football by the time he helped put Spurs to the sword at Wembley. He would continue to do that until 2019, winning five major trophies and scoring 110 goals across all competitions &#8212; placing him ninth on the club&#8217;s all-time list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s when Real Madrid came knocking to the tune of \u00a389million. However, this dream quickly turned into a disaster, with Hazard making just 76 appearances for Los Blancos over four years due to injury, managing just seven goals.
