However, the Brazilian suffered an arm injury early in the campaign, and struggled to find consistency, with a save percentage of just 56.7%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the end, Perri played just 16 Premier League games, conceding 29 goals and only keeping three clean sheets. Welsh veteran Karl Darlow was often preferred by Daniel Farke and looked much more assured, keeping five clean sheets in 22 league games and boasting a 70% save rate. But he has left for Manchester United, while Illan Meslier is now providing depth at Arsenal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In short, Leeds found themselves short of numbers and reliability in goal, making this position arguably the No.1 priority (pun not intended) at Elland Road this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-james-trafford-s-2025-26-season-and-clean-sheet-habit\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">James Trafford&#8217;s 2025\/26 season and clean sheet habit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trafford may have only played four Premier League games last season, but he turned out 17 times across all competitions as Man City won a domestic cup double and reached the Champions League round of 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 23-year-old was very impressive across these appearances, making 40 saves at a rate of 2.35 per 90 minutes. On loan at Bolton in League One in 2022\/23, he also kept 22 clean sheets in 45 matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clean sheets are a notoriously unreliable metric by which to measure a goalkeeper&#8217;s performance. That said, this is one key area of improvement moving forward for this burgeoning young talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ve already mentioned it, but Trafford&#8217;s shot-stopping capabilities and reflexes deserve another mention here. The former Carlisle United youngster prevented a whopping 2.53 goals in just four Premier League appearances last season, at a rate of 0.63 per 90 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trafford is already a top-class shot-stopper possessing huge potential with the ball at his feet. The reality is that he only lost his place at Manchester City due to the unexpected and opportunistic signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without that, there&#8217;s every chance he would still be the City No.1 and have displaced Jordan Pickford for England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;All I can say is we are delighted with his behaviour in training,&#8221; Guardiola said of Trafford last season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;One of the reasons why we want to go through in this competition (EFL Cup) is because they all have to be ready in case we need in the Premier League and the Champions League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I am pretty sure Gigi learns from James and James learns from Gigi. The goalkeepers are always connected.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We have an incredible keeper.
