Switzerland<\/a> have reached the 2026 World Cup<\/a> quarter-finals after beating Colombia<\/a> on penalties following a goalless draw.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was very little to separate the two sides in normal time, with just four shots on target between them. Things didn’t get much more exciting in extra time, though Colombia did have a key chance late on to steal the win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But there was no winner, and the game went to penalties. Davinson Sanchez and Cucho Hernandez both failed from the spot, with Gregor Kobel saving the latter’s effort. Manuel Akanji had put his penalty over the bar, but Ruben Vargas won it with the final kick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Switzerland will now face Argentina<\/a> in the quarter-finals.<\/p>\n\n\n
