In doing so, the Black Cats finished above the Blues in the top flight for the first time since 1983-84.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The achievement also saw Sunderland become just the fifth club to qualify for Europe through their league position in the season immediately following promotion to the Premier League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Chelsea, it brought the curtain down on a miserable campaign. Just a year after winning the Conference League &#8211; and then lifting the Club World Cup &#8211; the Blues have slumped to a 10th-place finish and missed out on European qualification altogether. It was his 11th assist on the road, which is a joint record alongside Cesc Fabregas (2014-15) and Mo Salah (2024-25).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fernandes, who also scored, has now been directly involved in 143 Premier League goals for Manchester United, moving him ahead of David Beckham\u2019s tally of 142.
