Manchester United sit rock-bottom of the Premier League<\/a>\u2019s ever-present table of clubs since Ruben Amorim\u2019s appointment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Man United<\/a> have picked up just 31 points from 31 games since Amorim\u2019s debut draw at Ipswich Town on 24th November 2024. This meagre tally is fewer than any other team to feature in both last season and this one, leaving United trailing behind the likes of Wolves and West Ham, and a staggering 37 points adrift of leaders Liverpool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United\u2019s latest setback, a 3-0 hammering by rivals Manchester City, has left them 14th in the actual league table with just one win this season — far from what the club\u2019s hierarchy had in mind after handing Amorim a \u00a3228.5m treasure chest<\/a> in the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amorim\u2019s debut season ended in disaster, with United finishing 15th, which was their lowest-ever position in the Premier League era. Their total of just 42 points marked the club\u2019s worst return since 1974, the year they were relegated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poor Win %<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amorim has overseen just 8 wins in 31 Premier League games, collecting a lowly 31 points with a win rate of 25.8%, alongside seven draws and a hefty 16 defeats. Across all competitions, his 36.2% win rate is the worst of any Man United manager since World War II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amongst the numerous lows, of which there have been so many, Amorim\u2019s nadir came just a few weeks ago when United were humiliated in the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby — the first time they’d ever lost to a fourth-tier club. The images of Amorim frantically scrambling with his tactics board and then hiding in the dugout during the penalty shoot-out will long be etched in the memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first managerial exit of the Premier League season has already happened after Nottingham Forest axed Nuno Espirito Santo during the international break — and another looks increasingly likely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graham Potter is the current 8\/11 favourite with Paddy Power to be the next manager sacked, following three losses in four opening games and 11 goals conceded, which leaves West Ham down in 18th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amorim is second in the betting at 5\/2. United\u2019s hierarchy are reportedly giving him three games to save his job with the club facing Chelsea, Brentford, and Sunderland in the next couple of weeks, before a daunting trip to Anfield just after the October international break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who could replace Amorim if he is sacked?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If Amorim is shown the door, Oliver Glasner is the current frontrunner to take over at Old Trafford, priced at 7\/2 with Paddy Power. The Austrian has impressed at Crystal Palace, winning both the FA Cup and Community Shield, and is enjoying a club-record 10-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next in the betting is Gareth Southgate at 5\/1. The former England manager, who has long been linked with United, has been without a job since leaving the national team in the summer of 2024, with his last club stint dating back to 2009 with Middlesbrough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other contenders include former Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Mauricio Pochettino, and Zinedine Zidane (all at 15\/2), while Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is an outside pick at 12\/1.<\/p>\n\n\n
