But they made amends with a Martin Zubimendi brace and a goal from Viktor Gyokeres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They now sit second in the Premier League with only the defending champions ahead of them. However, this season feels a little different for the Gunners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Absences to key men in recent years have proved detrimental to Arsenal in recent years. William Saliba\u2019s back injury in 2023 cost them the title, while they lost their way with Bukayo Saka missing last season. But they were busy in the market to bolster a number of key areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The general consensus now is that they have cover in key areas that\u2019ll enhance their chances of a first Premier League title since 2004. We\u2019ve taken a look at the early performances of those to have arrived to help plug the gaps where required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-yoast-seo-table-of-contents yoast-table-of-contents\"><h2>In this article, we&#8217;ll analyse:<\/h2><ul><li><a href=\"#h-cristhian-mosquera\" data-level=\"3\">Cristhian Mosquera<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#h-noni-madueke\" data-level=\"3\">Noni Madueke<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#h-ethan-nwaneri-and-eberechi-eze\" data-level=\"3\">Ethan Nwaneri and Eberechi Eze<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cristhian-mosquera\">Cristhian Mosquera<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cristhian Mosquera had a baptism of fire at Arsenal. His first away appearance came after just five minutes at Anfield, having to come on to replace the injured Saliba. But even in defeat, Mosquera gave a great of account himself. The former Valencia man didn\u2019t look out of place alongside Gabriel at the heart of the defence, catching the eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Mosquera has some way to go to match the Frenchman\u2019s exploits, the summer arrival boasts a commendable 92.31% pass accuracy from 64.1 passes per 90 minute. Both may be dips on Saliba\u2019s respective returns of a 94.58% pass success rate from 75.4 passes per 90 in the Premier League last season. But they indicate the seamlessness with which Arsenal have gone from Saliba to Mosquera at the back. It&#8217;s huge improvement on Rob Holding way back when, that&#8217;s for sure!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Mosquera has proven a more than capable one-on-one centre-back for Mikel Arteta\u2019s men. He&#8217;s won 88.89% of his ground duels, which is actually an increase on Saliba\u2019s 65.69% in 2024-25. Mosquera is blending the Frencjman&#8217;s distribution qualities with his own physicality. After all, a petition titled #NoToMadueke was started. However, Madueke has quickly won over his doubters for the Gunners, slotting in well on the right flank in the absence of Bukayo Saka. Saka endured a lengthy spell on the sidelines last season, and Arsenal suffered as a result, notably because they didn\u2019t have the requisite cover for the England star.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Madueke, though, put in his best performance for a long time in Saturday\u2019s win over Nottingham Forest. The Englishman was given a standing ovation when taken off with 10 minutes to play, after absolutely tearing the Forest backline to shreds. And, while Madueke didn\u2019t contribute to a goal, his driving ability forced Forest, opening up space to be exploited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his limited outings, Madueke may not be averaging as many shots (0.7 to 2.2) or creating as many chances per 90 (2.8 to 3) as Saka managed in the Premier League last season. But he\u2019s completing more take ons (2.5 to 2.2) and boasts a better take on success rate (58.33% to 52.56%) than Arsenal\u2019s Starboy in 2024-25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Madueke shots per 90 in 2025-26<\/strong>: 0.7<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Madueke chances created per 90 in 2025-26<\/strong>: 2.8<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Madueke take ons per 90 in 2025-26<\/strong>: 2.5<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Madueke take on success rate in 2025-26<\/strong>: 58.33%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ethan-nwaneri-and-eberechi-eze\">Ethan Nwaneri and Eberechi Eze<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ethan Nwaneri\u2019s decision to sign a new contract was supposed to end Arsenal&#8217;s interest in Eberechi Eze. Injury to Kai Havertz last month, however, saw the Gunners return for the Crystal Palace man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Martin Odegaard forced off early on against Nottingham Forest, both Nwaneri and Eze can feasibly deputise for the Arsenal skipper in the middle of the park. Nwaneri was the one used against Forest. But that was only because Eze started on the left, ahead of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pair offer handy alternatives to Odegaard in the middle of the park. Nwaneri can utilise his vision to good effect to pry part defences, while Eze is better suited at driving at backlines to help punch a hole in sides. Arsenal suffered when Odegaard was out of form last season but Arteta finally has relevant cover. So the Norwegian can now be rested without the quality of the side dipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Nwaneri chances created per 90 in 2025-26<\/strong>: 0.8<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eze take ons completed per 90 in 2025-26<\/strong>: 3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Arsenal invested heavily over the summer, and did so in a number of key areas that allows for the Gunners to compete on multiple fronts.
