Raheem Sterling is looking for a new club.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The English winger spent last season on loan Arsenal<\/a> from Chelsea<\/a>. But he only managed 1,143 minutes in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing five assists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sterling made 81 appearances in his time for Chelsea, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists. Although this isn’t the worst output, he clearly failed to live up to his \u00a3325,000 per week wages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrival of Enzo Maresca was the end of Sterling’s Chelsea career. The Italian manager told the English winger he would “struggle for minutes”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question is, after a poor loan spell at Arsenal and after being banished at Chelsea, where could Sterling go next in an attempt to revive his career?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve looked at some potential clubs below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dream: Bayer Leverkusen<\/h2>\n\n\n

One potential destination for Sterling is Bayer Leverkusen. The German club have lost Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool<\/a> this summer and could be looking to rebuild their attacking unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xabi Alonso has also moved to Real Madrid, handing the reins to Erik ten Hag at the German club. The Dutchman will likely look to put his own spin on things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bundesliga has long been seen as the most transitional league of the top five. Although it has recently been taken over by the Premier League. And this could suit Sterling in an attempt to regain his confidence and find his feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 2023-24 season at Chelsea, Sterling averaged 11.0 progressive passes received per 90 minutes. It’s similar numbers to Frimpong who averaged 10.6 per 90 last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding Sterling would give Leverkusen a new transition threat who can operate as their primary outlet on the counter attack. It’d alleviate his off ball responsibilities and give him a good chance to provide output and regain his confidence at a high level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Realistic: Juventus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Another transfer rumour is Sterling to Juventus, as it was reported both Bayer Leverkusen and the Bianconeri<\/em> are those interested in the 30-year-old winger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This would likely also be deemed a “dream move” for Sterling, playing Champions League football for one of the best teams in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the fact they have Kenan Yildiz ahead of him on the left would be a slight issue that Sterling has to overcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sterling can, of course, also play on the right. It’s something he has done 189 times in his career in comparison to his 276 games on the left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But again, Juventus have just invested in Francisco Conceicao who was on loan at the Italian club last season, scoring three goals and providing four assists in Serie A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After finishing fourth in Serie A last season, only scoring 58 goals, Juventus could still look to bolster their attacking options, bringing Sterling to the Allianz Stadium in an attempt to re-find his best form and add goals to the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n

    Wildcard: Aston Villa<\/h2>\n\n\n

    Perhaps a wildcard move closer to home for Sterling could be Aston Villa<\/a>, who recently had Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United and Marco Asensio on loan from PSG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With both players going back to their respective clubs, Villa could be looking for a forward addition this summer to provide depth and competition in the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Sterling could be an option for Unai Emery’s side, adding a versatile winger to the team who can deputise on both flanks, and, if back to his best, even become a starter for Villa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The main reason this would be a struggle to pull of would be the wage demands of Sterling, who as mentioned earlier, is earning around \u00a3325,000 per week at Chelsea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Aston Villa’s best bet would be waiting for the window to develop, hoping Chelsea become desperate to get Sterling a move, helping to facilitate a loan move where they pay a percentage of his wages, as they did with his loan to Arsenal last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Squawka Suggests: West Ham<\/h2>\n\n\n

    Sterling has made it clear in the past he loves living in London, stating “London is my home and where it all started for me” when joining Chelsea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    After the sale of Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> and the injury issues of Crysencio Summerville last season, Sterling could be an option to link up with his old boss, Graham Potter, at West Ham United<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When assessing Sterling’s 2023-24 season at Chelsea, you can see he managed more shots per 90 than Summerville and Kudus did last season. He also had more goals, a higher conversion rate, more forward passes and more touches in the opposition penalty area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    West Ham have been looking to add goals to their side alongside Jarrod Bowen for a while now, making multiple moves in the striker department which haven’t quite worked out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Sterling has scored 123 Premier League goals in 396 appearances, also providing 75 assists in that time. So could the 30-year-old be an option for the Hammers as they look to bolster their attacking options?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The main issue, as it would be for many clubs, is the wage which we mentioned in the Aston Villa segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    West Ham would likely have to wait for the market develop, looking to get Sterling later in the window as options dwindle, hoping his wage demands would drop in order to facilitate a move which keeps him in London!<\/p>\n\n\n
