Harry Kane’s hunt for a first trophy continues as he scored twice in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 Champions League win over Lazio.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite all the goals he has scored, there are still some who discount Kane’s ability because he hasn’t been able to lift a trophy. Everyone expected the long wait to be over this season as he said goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur and joined serial winners Bayern Munich.<\/p>\n

Kane had the chance to win a trophy in his very first game, but Bayern lost the DFL-Supercup 3-0 to RB Leipzig, almost immediately leading to memes about the Englishman being cursed. And there was a chance that he might have been.<\/p>\n

This was a Bayern team that haven’t failed to win the Bundesliga since 2010\/11, lifting the trophy in 11 consecutive seasons. They went extremely close to not winning it last season, only claiming the title thanks to Borussia Dortmund’s collapse on the final day. But, Bayern still lifted the trophy.<\/p>\n

    However, their title defence is pretty much over. Only a monumental collapse from Bayer Leverkusen will hand Bayern a route back into the title race, with the defending champions now 10 points off top with 10 games left to play.     Bayern were poor in the first leg against Lazio, even when you consider they were down to 10 men for just over 20 minutes. They had 17 shots in total but did not hit the target once, with an xG of 1.1. Ciro Immobile scored from the spot (as a result of Upamecano’s red-card foul), and Bayern had an uphill battle.<\/p>\n

    It could have been worse for Bayern too, had Immobile put away his chance in the first half of the second leg, missing an opportunity from close range to put Lazio 2-0 up in the tie. And then Bayern, and Kane, struck. It was an instinctive finish from Kane, who got his head onto Raphael Guerreiro’s mishit effort.<\/p>\n
