England’s disastrous Nations League campaign finally came to an end as they played out an enthralling 3-3 draw against Germany at Wembley.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
After a first half that saw the home side have the better of the chances but fail to score, it looked like England were never going to find the net from open play again, but that all changed in the second period.<\/p>\n
Goals from Luke Shaw, substitute Mason Mount and a Harry Kane penalty looked to have given the Three Lions their first win of the 2022\/23 Nations League campaign, but Kai Havertz had other ideas, tapping home after Nick Pope had spilled a hopeful shot from Serge Gnabry from outside the box in the 87th minute.<\/p>\n
Hansi Flick’s side had taken a 2-0 lead, after Ilkay G\u00fcndo\u011fan converted from the spot after Harry Maguire had clumsily brought down Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz gave the Newcastle shot stopper no chance with a fantastic curled finish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Here’s how the players rated at Wembley:<\/p>\n\n Nick Pope – 5 – <\/strong>Nearly caught out by Jamal Musiala early in the first half, given no chance for Germany’s first two goals, but will be disappointed not to hold on to the ball for the equaliser.<\/p>\n Reece James – 7 – <\/strong>Provided an assist for Luke Shaw in a much improved second half display going forward.<\/p>\n John Stones – 6 – <\/strong>Didn’t put a foot wrong, but was forced off after 37 minutes through injury.<\/p>\n Eric Dier – 7 – <\/strong>Cleared everything that came his way in the box, winning five of the six duels he contested.<\/p>\n Harry Maguire – 4 – <\/strong>His impressive first half display was immediately forgotten as the Manchester United defender needlessly gave the ball away before bringing Jamal Musiala down for the Germany penalty early in the second half. Lost possession high up the pitch in the build up to the German’s second goal.<\/p>\n Luke Shaw – 7 – <\/strong>Played an incredible ball to put Raheem Sterling through in the first half, scored to start the comeback in the second and was a constant threat down that left-hand side.<\/p>\n Jude Bellingham – 9 – <\/strong>Absolutely sensational and controlled the midfield at just 19-years old.
