The transfer window is in full swing and as such clubs across the continent have been working day and night to bolster their squads…while others haven’t been quite as active.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chelsea are currently enduring a two-window transfer embargo, but even they have been more industrious in the market than some clubs, with the permanent recruitment of Mateo Kovacic.<\/p>\n

On the other side of the spectrum some managers have been working overtime to spend big, with Real Madrid and Barcelona evoking lavish Galactico memories to courier a combined \u00a3474m to clubs across the globe.<\/p>\n

But, not all throughout Europe’s top five leagues have the luxury of flexing the eye-watering financial might afforded to Zinedine Zidane or Ernesto Valverde. In fact, some clubs are yet to spend a single penny, while others have struggled to make any sort of a significant inroad in their respective transfer kitties.<\/p>\n

So, who are those clubs? Apart from Chelsea, there are six to have only signed one player, while two are yet to make a single investment…<\/p>\n

This will come as no surprise as\u00a0Los Leones have an unwritten transfer policy dictating that the club can only sign either\u00a0players born in the Basque Country or players who progressed through the ranks at a\u00a0Basque club.<\/p>\n

As such Athletic Bilbao have forged a formidable reputation over the years for their ability to remain a highly competitive La Liga club without having the spending affluence of their competitors. They have made some marquee signings in recent years with Inigo Martinez and\u00a0Yuri Berchiche commanding a combined \u00a349m fee, but, by and large,\u00a0Rojiblancos are more renowned for cultivating homegrown talent rather than looking for outside influence.<\/p>\n
