Here you can find out the leaders in every attacking and defensive metric, check team and individual stats and dive deep into the numbers behind the German top tier. These stats update in real-time, meaning you’re getting the most relevant, up-to-date information as the action unfolds.

How to use our Bundesliga Stats Page

Above you will find a handful of different tools to deep dive in order to find whichever stats you’d like to view. We have a player stats table and a team stats table, with our own selection of stats included in each.

You can easily edit which statistics are available to view within these tables by hitting the edit stats button in the top right corner. You can select as many statistics that you would like to see as possible from the list and you can see the depth of statistics available within the table there too, in both the player and club version of the table.

From there, if you’d like to see the table listed by the leaders for a specific stat, simply click that stat label at the top of the table. So if you want to see the players with the best crossing accuracy percentage, simply add that stat via the ‘edit stats’ button, then click the stat in the table to list every player in descending order.

You can also find an individual players stats by using the search function at the top of the table to show only that player. For an even deeper dive, you can navigate to that players page and see their latest stats – and you can do the same on a team-by-team basis too.

We also have the Squawka Comparison Matrix, where you can choose up to five players from five different leagues

General Performance Stats in the Bundesliga

We’ve grouped some stats as ‘general’ stats as these are the top line stats you expect to see for every player:

Appearances – This shows how many games the player has featured in this season.

Minutes played – This shows how many minutes the player has featured in this season – this will differ based on how often they are substituted in and out of games.

Goals – This shows how many goals a player has scored in the campaign.

Assists – This shows how many goals a player has provided an assist for in the campaign.

You can see from these stats how important a player is to the team in terms of selection and availability and of course in terms of goal contributions, always a key factor in judging an attacking player’s output.

Attacking Stats and Goal Contribution

There’s more to attacking output than just goals and assists however. Although these two metrics of course measure a players’ final product, which is undoubtedly as important as anything within the game even in the modern age, other numbers can show a player’s wider contribution to his team’s attacking output, such as the following:

Of course, goals and assists are the numbers that most affect the scoreline which is every team’s bottom line – but other numbers can give a clearer picture on a player’s performance over the course of a Bundesliga campaign.

Shots – This tells you how many attempts a player takes a goal.

Shots on target – This tells how many attempts a player takes on goal that require a save from the goalkeeper

Shot Accuracy – This tells you what percentage of a player’s shots are on target

Chances created – This tells how how many chances a player has created for his teammates

Take-ons completed – This tells you how often a player attempts to dribble past an opponent and succeeds.

This is why it’s important not to focus purely on one stat. A lot of shots on target will show you that a player is getting in the right positions to score – but how many of those shots are they converting?

Equally, just because a player isn’t getting shots on target or goals, it doesn’t mean they aren’t contributing effectively in the attacking areas of the pitch. More creative players should be judged on assists and chances created, while take-ons completed shows a player’s ability to beat a defender which can prove pivotal in opening the game up.

Wide players tend to rank better for take-ons completed and crosses completed as these actions lie within the remit of a wide attacking player. Central strikers will expect to get more shots off, win more headers and complete more flick-ons. Central attacking midfielders will look to rank well for through balls and for touches in the final third where they can really control a team’s attacking rhythm.

There are different tactical styles and formations used in the Bundesliga too, so if no attacking players are ranking well for these particular stats, it doesn’t mean that the team are underachieving in that area. Some teams will play with wing-backs, so midfielders and defenders may be tasked with beating opponents, creating chances and completing crosses.

The league itself is known for aggressive pressing and high octane football. It is one of the highest-scoring leagues in Europe, particularly among the more well-known football countries and there’s often a lot of space for teams to exploit if they can play through an opponent’s press. Expect more goals, more through balls and fewer passes per defensive action when comparing the Bundesliga to Europe’s other leagues.

Passing and Ball Retention Metrics

While possession isn’t valued in Germany in the same way that it is in other European countries, the ability to keep hold of the ball, frustrate opponents and pick passes that can unlock their defence will always be important in the context of any league.

Unsurprisingly, it’s no different in Germany and a player with a high passing accuracy is always a highly valued commodity. Marry that with a high number of passes completed and you have the profile of a key player for any team in world football – a high volume of accurate passes can win you a game by controlling the tempo and giving teams opportunity to attack.

We always recommend combining the stats with the eye test though and although the number of forward passes can give you some idea of the type of passes a player is playing, there is more to a pass than simply its direction and accuracy.

Was the pass part of the build-up to a goal or a chance being created? Was the player under pressure when playing the ball? Was it a long pass? We do have more in-depth statistics for long passing accuracy for players too, so look for a combination of these stats to find players that are best for passing and ball retention in the Bundesliga.

Given the fast transitions and high pressing that characterise the German top tier, it’s important for teams to possess technical midfielders and ball-playing defenders in order to be effective in possession in this competition.

Defensive and Ball-Winning Output

Of course, it’s not just about what you do with the ball when you have it – but what you can do to win the ball back in the first place. This is where a team’s defenders and defensive-minded midfielders come in and in a division where possession changes hands often, there’s fertile ground for players of this particular ilk to thrive in the Bundesliga.

Key defensive actions to look out for to judge a defender’s performance include tackles made, interceptions and blocks. But it’s key to look for tackle success percentage too – a lot of tackles won isn’t necessarily a particularly good indicator of how well a player has played if they have not won a high percentage of their tackles.

Equally, it’s key to note that certain teams such as Bayern Munich have less defending to do as they look to dominate their opponents and control possession. With that in mind, their players will naturally win fewer tackles and interceptions – but it doesn’t mean they have any less quality.

Defenders will also expect to rank well in duels, particularly aerial duels for central defenders as they battle with strikers in the air. There are also more obvious statistics to consider – clean sheets are ultimately the best way to judge how strong a defence is as a whole.

Always consider how a central or defensive midfielder’s role differs from a centre back’s or a full-back’s. There are also further considerations to take into account when it comes to a team’s formation. If a side plays with three centre-backs rather than two, a wide centre-back may need to cover different areas of the pitch, while that will also mean wing-backs with a more offensive role than traditional full-backs.

Discipline and Physical Edge

Discipline is another important statistical area when analysing Bundesliga performances, particularly in a league known for high pressing and fast transitions. While cards and fouls are often viewed as negative outcomes, they can also provide useful insight into how teams and players approach defensive situations.

Yellow and red cards help indicate how frequently players are forced into last-ditch challenges or tactical fouls. Teams that defend high up the pitch and press aggressively tend to accumulate more bookings, as players attempt to disrupt counter-attacks before they develop. This makes card totals a useful reference point when assessing how risky or proactive a team’s defensive structure is.

Fouls committed are also closely linked to tactical intent. A higher foul count can reflect an intense pressing style where players look to regain possession quickly, even if it means stopping play. On the other hand, teams that sit deeper and defend in compact blocks often commit fewer fouls, instead relying on positional discipline and shape to limit chances. It’s worth noting that tactical fouls are less prevalent in the Bundesliga than they are in the Premier League for example.

Discipline statistics can also highlight defensive exposure. Players who frequently find themselves isolated in one-on-one situations may be forced into late challenges, which can increase foul and card totals. Over the course of a season, this can point towards structural weaknesses in certain areas of the pitch, such as full-back zones or midfield transitions.

When analysed in context, discipline and physical edge metrics help build a clearer picture of how Bundesliga teams balance aggression, pressing intensity and defensive organisation.

Goalkeeping Stats and Defensive Structure

Goalkeeping statistics play a key role in evaluating defensive performance across the Bundesliga, but they are most useful when viewed in the context of team structure and tactical approach. Raw numbers alone rarely tell the full story, as a goalkeeper’s workload can vary significantly depending on how their team defends.

Save totals are often one of the first metrics people look at. A high number of saves can indicate strong shot-stopping ability, but it can also reflect the volume of chances a team allows. Goalkeepers playing behind deeper defensive blocks or weaker defensive units will typically face more shots, giving them more opportunities to accumulate saves across a season.

Goals conceded provides a broader view of defensive effectiveness, although this figure is influenced by more than just the goalkeeper. Defensive shape, pressing success and the quality of chances allowed all contribute to how often a team is breached. As a result, this metric works best when combined with other indicators such as shots faced and expected goals against.

Clean sheets are often used as a headline statistic when judging goalkeepers and defensive units. While they offer a clear measure of how often a team prevents the opposition from scoring, they are heavily shaped by collective organisation. Teams that maintain compact defensive structures and limit high-quality chances tend to produce more clean sheets, regardless of overall possession levels.

Overall, Bundesliga goalkeeping statistics are most effective when analysed alongside team defensive patterns and shot volume faced, helping to separate individual performance from broader tactical context.

Set-Piece Contribution

Set-piece statistics are an important part of Bundesliga analysis, particularly when evaluating how teams create chances outside of open play. Goals scored from corners, free-kicks and indirect set plays can have a significant impact on league position over the course of a season, especially in closely contested matches.

Tracking goals from set plays helps highlight teams that are efficient in dead-ball situations. Some sides place a strong emphasis on structured routines and aerial strength, using these moments to gain an advantage against well-organised defences. For players, this metric can also point to individual contributions from centre-backs, target forwards and specialist set-piece takers.

Delivery involvement is another key factor to consider. Players who regularly take corners and wide free-kicks often influence attacking output even when they are not directly scoring. High involvement in set-piece delivery can indicate creative responsibility within the team and can be a reliable source of chance creation throughout a season.

Set pieces carry particular importance for mid-table and lower-table Bundesliga teams. These sides may have less possession or fewer open-play opportunities against stronger opponents, making dead-ball situations a valuable way to remain competitive. In tight matches where chances are limited, a single well-executed corner or free-kick can be the difference between gaining points and leaving empty-handed.

As a result, set-piece contribution remains a key statistical area for understanding how teams across the Bundesliga maximise scoring opportunities and manage small margins in competitive fixtures.

How to Use Bundesliga Stats Together

No single statistic can fully capture a player or team’s performance across a Bundesliga season. Individual metrics often highlight only one aspect of the game, such as scoring output, defensive actions or passing volume. When viewed in isolation, these numbers can be misleading, as they are heavily influenced by tactical roles, opposition quality and match context. A striker with fewer goals may still contribute significantly through chance creation and pressing, while a defender with high tackle numbers may simply be exposed to more defensive situations.

Combining attacking, defensive and passing data provides a more balanced picture of overall performance. Attacking statistics such as goals, shots and chance creation help measure output in the final third, while defensive metrics like interceptions, duels and recoveries reflect off-ball contribution. Passing and possession data then add another layer, showing how effectively a team or player progresses the ball and maintains control during different phases of play.

When these areas are analysed together, patterns begin to emerge that are not visible through individual metrics alone. This approach allows for clearer comparisons between players with different roles and between teams with contrasting tactical styles. In the Bundesliga, where pressing intensity, transitional play and varied defensive structures are common, using a combination of statistical categories is the most reliable way to understand performance trends and underlying strengths.

Read more:

Latest football news

Football betting tips

Best betting sites

Best free bet offers

Football accumulator tips

Looking for the latest stats from the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign?
