West Ham transfer news: Josh King and James Tarkowski favourites to join
West Ham are 11/10 to sign Josh King in the January Transfer Window with David Moyes reportedly prioritising a forward.
The Hammers have impressed during the 2020/21 campaign but lack a regular goalscorer in attack. Midfielder Tomas Soucek is the club’s leading scorer in the Premier League this term with five goals, while top-scoring frontman Jarrod Bowen averages just 0.28 goals per game.
Michail Antonio’s injury problems have not helped but Moyes is keen to find a solution in the January market.
Bournemouth striker King has been linked with a move to London Stadium with his contract due to expire in the summer. He is now free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs but the market suggests a domestic move is more likely.
Moyes told Talksport last month: “Last January we brought in Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen and they’ve made an incredible difference to us, so if we can bring in players like that I would definitely do it.”
So is King gearing up for a move away from the Vitality Stadium? Cherries boss Jason Tindall told the Bournemouth Echo: “Josh is a good player, he’s back fit now. He came on against Brentford and looked sharp when he came on.
“What happens away from that, whether he is here or someone comes in for him or not, we can’t control, so there’s no point in even really discussing it.”
Meanwhile, James Tarkowski is priced at 5/1 to make a January move to West Ham. The Hammers reportedly had bids rejected for Tarkowski in the summer and they are apparently poised to reignite their interest.
Whether that happens now or in the summer remains to be seen. The 28-year-old’s Burnley contract expires in 2022 and he has so far rejected two offers of fresh terms at Turf Moor, meaning the Clarets could look to sell him in the coming year to ensure they receive a fee for the England international.
