Arsenal and West Ham meet at the London Stadium on Sunday for a Premier League match-up that could seriously shake up the landscape in the division’s upper slopes (4.30pm kick-off, UK time).
The Gunners have bounced back from a disastrous start to the month, in which they lost three on the spin, to beat Chelsea and Man Utd, reclaiming their position in the Premier League’s coveted fourth spot, as Tottenham have contrived to self-implode over the last two games, going winless against Brentford and Brighton.
West Ham meanwhile were brought down to earth with a grim reality check in their first-leg defeat to Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday. The Hammers have a game in hand on sixth-placed Man Utd and are still in the European hunt in the league, so focus remains intense domestically, as well on the continental scene.

West Ham team news vs Arsenal: Dawson out, Zouma in
- Ins: Kurt Zouma
- Outs: Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna
- Doubts: Issa Diop
David Moyes kept it under wraps exceptionally well, with Kurt Zouma recovering in time to feature against Frankfurt on Thursday. The Hammers boss may have been tempted to keep him on ice ahead of next week’s second leg, but with Craig Dawson suspended here following his red card against Chelsea, he will almost certainly start. Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop remain unlikely to feature, particularly the former, but there is some hope the latter is making a quicker recovery than originally expected.

Arsenal team news vs West Ham: Saka expected to be fit
- Ins: Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu
- Outs: Kieran Tierney, Thomas Partey
Bukayo Saka came off against Man Utd with a knock which carried over from the Chelsea game, though it is believed Mikel Arteta’s decision to substitute the England forward was merely a precautionary measure — and he should be fit to feature at the London Stadium. Takehiro Tomiyasu will also be pushing for a start having recently returned to action after missing the last 12 Premier League games with a calf issue. He was afforded a late runout against Man Utd.
Eddie Nketiah will be eyeing up another start having come to life in recent games, but links with Gabriel Jesus and Arsenal don’t seem to be letting up, particularly as the Gunners forward will see his contract expire at the end of the season — and a certain legend around north London has backed the Jesus rumours.
Thierry Henry told CBS Sports: “What he can give offensively to the team.
“We saw that he scored four goals at the weekend [against Watford]. When he is in the box, he’s one of the three that is playing, or since [Sergio] Aguero left, he has that nine instinct. He has what the number nine would smell.
“What I like with him is that when he puts pressure, whether it’s on the left, on the right or in the middle, he doesn’t have a problem to defend in them situations by coming back and helping his team.”
