The quarter final stage of the US Open is well underway and, in the final tie of the round, World number one Iga Swiatek comes up against Jessia Pegula.

Swiatek has had another great year in tennis and she’s made light work of her opponents to reach the quarter finals here. Straight set victories in the first three rounds of the competition set up a fourth round tie with Jule Niemeier and, although she lost the first set, Swiatek rallied back to claim the win and remain the favourite to lift the trophy this weekend,

Pegula has enjoyed a similar route to the quarter final, although her blip came against Y Yuan in the third round where she lost the second set on a tiebreaker. She was able to come through that match though and a straight set victory over Petra Kvitova in the following round would’ve restored some confidence for the American.
