Villarreal vs Cadiz build-up & previous line-ups:
After going unbeaten in their opening seven La Liga outings (five draws and two wins) the reigning Europa League winners have now suffered back-to-back league games. However those losses to Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao were by a one-goal margin (both matches ending 2-1). Consequently, the Yellow Submarine‘s find themselves sitting in mid-table having accumulated 11 points, albeit Unai Emery’s men have a game in hand. Before that Osasuna setback Villarreal had won two of their opening three games at Estadio de la Cerámica with the only blemish being a goalless draw against Granada on matchday one.
This will only be the fifth time Cádiz will face Villarreal in Spain’s top division; across their previous two visits the Andalusia-based club returned home with no wins but overall The Pirates have only lost once, and that defeat came last season when Emery’s side picked up a 2-1 win. So far during this campaign the other ‘Yellow Submarine’ have picked up one win from ten played. That sole victory came on matchday five (1-2 win at Celta Vigo) which subsequently ended a seven-game winless run stretching back into last season. Since that away success they’ve played five times without registering a win instead picking up three losses and two draws albeit one of those stalemates came against Barcelona (0-0).

Player to watch: Arnaut Danjuma (Villarreal)
To date Villarreal have scored seven goals at home this season with Arnaut Danjuma responsible for 43% of those strikes (three). The 24-year-old Dutch winger joined from Bournemouth in the summer for a reported £21.15m and he’s certainly starting to repay that faith. He comes into this week’s showdown with Cadiz having bagged five goals across 11 appearances in all competitions. Four of those strikes have come in Spain’s top division which makes Danjuma his club’s leading La Liga scorer. His form earned him a Netherlands recall and during the last international break Danjuma struck in a 6-0 win over lowly Gibraltar his second goal for Oranje and first since October 2018.
