Two-time Grand Slam winner Victoria Azarenka will be aiming to reach the quarter-finals of Wimbledon for the fifth time in her career when she takes on wildcard and one-time semi-finalist Elina Svitolina in the fourth round on Sunday, with both players returning to London’s major after a one-year absence.

They have certainly looked to make up for lost time, with Azarenka dispatching Yuan Yue, Nadia Podoroska and Daria Kasatkina to set up this tie, while Svitolina took down veteran Venus Williams, No. 28 seed Elise Mertens and Sofia Kenin to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon for only the third time in her career.

Azarenka was, of course, a dominant force in the early 2010s, winning the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013, while also reaching the finals of the US Open in that time. During that period of success, she also reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon, but since then she has flattered to deceieve.

Svitolina’s best year came in 2019 when she reached the penultimate round of London’s major event, the US Open and the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. She will be hoping to tap into the form of that wonderful year when she takes on the experienced Azarenka later this weekend.
