Venezuela vs Brazil build-up & previous line-ups:
Despite arguably having their most talented squad in a generation, Venezuela have made a disastrous start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, taking just four points from nine games. Of course, there’s still time to turn things around, but with each passing result, the chances of Venezuela reaching their first-ever World Cup become slimmer.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Brazil have had no such problems, winning each of their eight games so far. No other side in Conmebel has scored more (19) or conceded fewer (2) goals in the current cycle and it really would be a monumental shock if Tite’s men didn’t leave Venezuela with another three points.
- Venezuela (vs Paraguay): Farinez; A. Gonzalez, Chancellor, Ferraresi, O. Gonzalez; Moreno, Martinez; Savarino, Otero, Soteldo; Hurtado.
- Brazil (vs Peru): Weverton; Danilo, Verissimo, Militao, Sandro; Ribeiro, Gerson, Casimero, Paqueta; Gabriel, Neymar.

Player to watch: Neymar
Despite playing alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria, things haven’t been quite so smooth at club level this season for Neymar. The 29-year-old has managed just two goals in 10 appearances for PSG across all competitions so far, while he has fired a blank in his last four outings.
But at international level, Neymar scored Brazil’s second in a 2-0 win over Peru last time out, extending his tally to six goals in this qualifying cycle. Only Bolivia’s Marcelo Moreno has more (8). Regardless of his struggles at club level, Neymar will once again be expected to shoulder the goalscoring burden for Brazil here.
