Valencia vs Real Sociedad build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
It’s been a tough season for Valencia, who have failed to string any sort of consistency together and have spent most of the campaign trying to get themselves out of the relegation battle. With 33 points, Los Che are now nine clear of Huesca in 18th and can be counted as almost safe, though Javi Gracia won’t want his players to take their foot off the gas with a finish in the top eight still also a distinct possibility.
But the hosts could find it tough to cope with Real Sociedad this weekend. The Basque club are on a high after beating rivals Athletic Bilbao in the delayed 2019/20 Copa de Rey final, while they followed that up by scoring a late equaliser to draw 1-1 in a La Liga meeting with their arch-nemesis just days later. Sevilla are 12 points clear of Sociedad in the fourth and final Champions League spot, but Alguacil will undoubtedly be targeting an impressive fifth-place finish.
- Valencia (vs Cadiz): Domenech; Correira, Diakhaby, Gabriel, Gaya; Wass, Racic, Soler, Blanco; Guedes, Gameiro.
- Real Sociedad (vs Athletic Bilbao): Remiro; Elustondo, Zubeldia, Le Normand, Munoz; Barrenetxea, Guevara, Zubimendi, Oyarzabal; Isak, Fernandez.
Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen remains sidelined for Valencia, while Eliaquim Mangala, Maxi Gomez and Cristiano Piccini are all doubts.
Sociedad’s list of absentees is growing ever longer, with David Silva, Luca Sangalli, Asier Illarramendi and Aihen Munoz all injured, while Igor Zubeldia and Martin Zubimendi are both suspended. Miguel Moya, Mikel Merino, Joseba Zaluda and Jon Guridi are all doubts.

Players to watch: Alexander Isak (Real Sociedad)
A 12-game purple patch between December 19th and February 21st saw Alexander Isak bag 10 goals and one assist across all competitions, culminating in an impressive hat-trick against Alaves. Curiously, since then, the 21-year-old has endured a six-game run without finding a goal at club level, though he did score for Sweden against Kosovo.
Despite the dry patch he’s experiencing right now, Isak’s record of 12 La Liga goals is still only bettered by five players this season, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Karim Benzema among that illustrious list of names.
Fast and incredibly hard to dispossess, while also powerful in the air, Isak can be very difficult to stop at his best. Sociedad fans will hope he can get back among the goals this weekend to ensure their side don’t blow their fifth-place finish.
