Udinese vs Juventus build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

As their 2020/21 campaign draws to a close, the likelihood is Udinese will comfortably finish in mid-table. After 33 matches played, Luca Gotti’s side are in 11th, albeit eight points above the dropzone. Last time out, Le Zebrette returned to successful ways by registering a second win in three Serie A games but their recent form at home though isn’t encouraging. Udinese welcome Juve on the back of three successive 0-1 defeats though before this period of losses they put together a five-game unbeaten run, which included three wins on the bounce.

A historic and unprecedented 10th consecutive Scudetto is now mathematically impossible for Juventus this season. The Old Lady have been Serie A’s undisputed champions this past decade but uncharacteristic performances has seen them flounder, leaving the door open for Inter Milan — now led by former boss Antonio Conte, who began Juve’s recent period of dominance — to end an 11-year championship wait. Antonio Conte’s men are 16 points behind the Nerazzurri with five matches remaining. They also go into this weekend’s game having won just one of their previous six league matches on the road (a 1-3 win at relegation-threatened Cagliari in March).

  • Udinese (vs Benevento): Musso*; Becão, Bonifazi, Nuytinck; Molina, DePaul, Walace, Arslan, Stryger Larsen; Pereyra; Okaka.
  • Juventus (vs Fiorentina): Szczesny; De Ligt, Chiellini, Bonucci; Cuadrado, Rabiot, Bentancur, Alex Sandro; Ramsey*; Dybala, Ronaldo.

Juan Musso serves a one-match suspension for Udinese, who go into this weekend’s game without the services of Jayden Braaf, Ilija Nestorovski, Gerard Deulofeu, Ignacio Pussetto and Mato Jajalo. Juventus meanwhile could be missing four players this weekend. Aaron Ramsey, Álvaro Morata, Merih Demiral and Federico Chiesa are either ruled out through injury or doubtful.

Player to watch: Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)

With no fewer than five Serie A matches remaining, Cristiano Ronaldo leads the race to win this season’s Capocannoniere but the Portuguese forward has been out of sorts lately. After bagging 10 goals across 11 outings, the former Real Madrid man has now gone three consecutive appearances without registering a goal. Ronaldo last went four games without registering a strike in November 2017, when he was representing Los Blancos. This weekend’s game will be his fifth against Udinese and in those previous outings he’d score five times (just one of those came on the road, however).
