Udinese vs AC Milan build-up, previous line-ups & pre-match team news:

Stefano Pioli’s team have dropped just two points in their five Serie A games so far, drawing with Roma last weekend. But they remain two points clear at the top of the table and have been excellent in 2020/21, already showing signs of a title charge at this early stage.

They have carried this form over to the Europa League too, winning all of their games including the qualifying rounds, though the match against Rio Ave did require a penalty shootout.

By contrast, Udinese have had a start to forget, winning just one of their opening five games, and currently sit in 18th spot. But they do have a decent home record against the Rossoneri in recent meetings.

AC Milan have won just three of their last 12 away league games against Udinese, with the hosts winning seven. However, that has taken Udinese’s total number of Serie A wins against AC Milan to just 17 out of 90, with 40 Rossoneri wins and an impressive 33 draws.

  • Udinese (vs Vicenza Virtus): Scuffet; Stryger Larsen, Bonifazi, Samir, Zeegelaar; Makengo, De Paul, Forestieri; Pussetto, Nestorovski, Deulofeu.
  • AC Milan (vs Sparta Prague): Tatarusanu; Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Dalot; Bennacer, Tonali; Castillejo, Diaz, Krunic; Ibrahimovic.

Udinese have a relatively fresh squad to choose from, with the likes of Jens Stryger Larsen returning from injury in midweek. Goalkeeper Juan Musso has also returned and is expected to feature in the starting XI.

AC Milan have no fresh absentees but remain without Gianluigi Donnarumma and Jens Petter Hauge, meaning Ciprian Tatarusanu will continue in goal.

Players to watch:

Udinese: Gerard Deulofeu made his first Udinese start in midweek against Vincenza Virtus and was given 64 minutes before coming off, to continue his comeback from the injury picked up for Watford against Liverpool in February. And it was a successful return. The Spaniard, on loan from Watford, scored Udinese’s second goal in their 3-1 win just minutes before being taken off. Although he is unlikely to start this weekend, such was the severity of his injury and the time needed to get back to full fitness, Deulofeu could play a part from the bench. And a player of Deulofeu’s quality is going to be key in trying to take points from Milan.

AC Milan: Zlatan Ibrahimovic may have turned 39 at the start of October, but there’s no stopping the Swede in Serie A. Having already missed four matches he has still managed to score six goals and is leading as Serie A’s top scorer. A brace in all three of his games this season, Ibrahimovic will be looking to become the first player to score 2+ goals in four consecutive Serie A matches since Oliver Bierhoff did in 1998, coincidentally for Udinese (three) and AC Milan (one). Ibrahimovic is also on the verge of equalling his own record for scoring in six consecutive Serie A games for AC Milan, previously achieving the feat in 2012, with Andriy Shevchenko (2001) the only other player to do so since 1994/95.

Scoreline prediction: Udinese 0-3 AC Milan
