Twente vs NEC build-up & previous line-ups:
After the opening nine rounds of fixtures Twente can be content with a seventh place berth. Ron Jans’ men at one point strung together a four-game winning streak before hitting a wall. The Tukkers come into this weekend’s game having dropped four points across their last two league matches (1-1 at Groningen and 1-1 v Willem II) but are nevertheless unbeaten in six games after beginning with a three-game winless run. Twente also look solid at De Grolsch Veste this season. They’ve won two of their previous four home games while being held by Ajax (1-1) and the aforementioned Willem II last time out.
Things couldn’t be any more different for NEC who head into this fixture on the back of suffering three losses across their last three Eredivisie showdowns including a 0-1 home loss against Gelderse derby rivals Vitesse last time out. It subsequently leaves them in 11th but four points behind this weekend’s opponents. Their record on the road since returning to Dutch football’s top division this season has been somewhat modest. Sunday’s clash in Enschede will be their fifth and across those previous four away games NEC have returned with two wins and suffered two heavy losses in Amsterdam (5-0 v Ajax) and Rotterdam (5-3 v Feyenoord).

Player to watch: Ricky van Wolfswinkel (Twente)
Among the many under the radar transfers which occurred this past summer Ricky van Wolfswinkel joining Twente is up there. The former two-time Netherlands international returned to Dutch football’s big league after spending a few years in Basel and he started well by striking on debut against Fortuna Sittard before a knee injury briefly sidelined him. Van Wolfswinkel — who previously enjoyed spells at Saint-Étienne, Norwich and Sporting CP — would soon register in three successive games but he comes into this weekend’s game with NEC, whom he crossed paths many times before while donning the shirt of Vitesse, on a two-game scoring drought. As touched upon, Van Wolfswinkel has faced NEC eight times before in the Eredivisie, subsequently scoring five goals and creating a further two. Those most recent goals (a brace) came in his most recent meeting (April 2017) in Arnhem when the hosts ran out 2-1 winners.
