“He’d score loads in the Bundesliga” – Bayern Munich boss hints at Tottenham transfer move for Harry Kane
Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has refused to rule out signing Harry Kane, claiming the Tottenham Hotspur star would be a hit in the Bundesliga.
The German champions have just suffered the unthinkable blow of losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, ending an eight-year spell in Munich for the Poland international. During that time, he scored 344 goals across all competitions, winning the Bundesliga in every single season and lifting the Uefa Champions League in 2020.
Though Bayern have already signed Sadio Mane this summer, the search will now be on to find a centre-forward to replace Lewandowski.
Spurs star Kane has long been compared to Lewandowski, with the two held among the best centre-forwards on the planet for years now.
Kane has scored 248 goals for Tottenham across all competitions and has hit the net 50 times in 73 England caps, leaving him just three short of Wayne Rooney’s all-time record for the Three Lions.
All that’s missing now for the 28-year-old is a major trophy. He’d have no problem winning those with Bayern Munich and Nagelsmann believes he’d easily translate his form to German football, even if he was realistic about the finances that would be required to complete such a deal.
“Very expensive, that’s the problem. But a brilliant player, one of the best forwards,” Nagelsmann told reporters. “Perhaps one of two or three centre-forwards who can really play centre-forward. The last two years he didn’t play centre-forward, he was dropping as a number 10. But he’s very strong, he has a strong body.
“It could be possible that he’d score a lot of goals in the Bundesliga but [it is] really, really tough for Bayern Munich to do this.”
Kane looks set to have another strong Premier League season after scoring five goals in just three pre-season appearances so far.

Nagelsmann isn’t the only one who thinks the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner would be a perfect match for Bayern Munich, with Oliver Kahn labelling Kane a ‘dream’ target for Bayern in the future.
“He’s under contract with Tottenham. Sure, an absolute top striker, but that’s all a dream of the future,” the former goalkeeper said, adding: “Now we have to look at getting the squad together for the current season. Let’s see what else happens.”
