Chelsea have received a boost as they continue to track the progress of Declan Rice amid reports the player has “told his pals” he is not interested in joining Manchester United.

It means the Blues are unlikely to face significant competition for Rice should they put together an offer. The England interntional was strongly-linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer while United were also said to be monitoring his situation at West Ham.

The midfielder, who can also play at centre-back, reportedly believes he has unfinished business at Chelsea, where he played in his youth before being released. However, Frank Lampard is unlikely to be granted the fee necesary to prise Rice away in the January window.

Sarr, who can play wide or through the middle, was linked with Crystal Palace in the summer but the Eagles are not expected to return with an offer this month.

The Hammers are also favourites to land Bournemouth’s Josh King, though Everton have now been linked with a swap-deal for the Cherries frontman, who scored twice in the FA Cup win over Oldham on Saturday.

RB Leipzig’s CEO has hinted the club could listen to offers for Dayot Upamecano this month.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been linked with a move for the Frenchman over the last 12 months. The defender signed a new contract with the Bundesliga side last season which reportedly includes a release clause of £40m which will become active at the end of the current campaign.

But Oliver Mintzlaff has opened the door to a move now if the money is right.

“We have a squad that is very broad in terms of quality. So we will sell top performers again if it makes financial sense and we can cope with it from a sporting point of view,” Mintzlaff told Bild.
