Trabzonspor vs Galatasaray build-up & previous line-ups:

After the opening three rounds Trabzonspor found themselves sitting top of the Super Lig table. Abdullah Avci’s men claimed maximum points after picking up wins over Yeni Malatyaspor (5-1), Sivasspor (2-1) and Giresunspor (1-0). Karadeniz Fırtınası consequently boasted the league’s attacking record (eight goals) heading into matchday four while enjoying the joint second best defensive record. The former six-time Turkish champions, their last success coming in 1984, have finished either fourth or higher in each of the last three league seasons. This weekend’s clash will be the 49th time Galatasaray have visited them and in those previous occasions Trabzonspor were triumphant 21 times while Galatasaray have left with 16 wins.

Breathing down Trabzonspor’s neck are last season’s runners-up Galatasaray who are one of five unbeaten teams in the division after the opening three rounds. Fatih Terim’s side though lost their 100% record last time out when they were held to a 2-2 draw at Kasımpaşa, the result ended an eight-game winning streak, but extended the club’s unbeaten run in Turkey’s top-flight to 12 matches (nine wins and three draws). As touched upon, Galatasaray have won 33.3% of their previous league visits to Trabzonspor with just one success coming across the club’s last five trips which turned out to be in the season gone by when Arda Turan and Oğulcan Cağlayan were on song to register a 0-2 success.

Player to watch: Alexandru Cicaldau (Galatasaray)

Incredibly after three matches in this season’s Super Lig the leading scorer for Galatasaray isn’t one of their forwards, instead on two goals is summer signing Alexandru Cicaldau, the 24-year-old Romanian central midfielder was on hand just before the international break netting against Kasimpasa to go with his opening weekend strike. Cicaldau had previously turned out for Universitatea Craiova and Farul Constanța with the Istanbul giants representing his first overseas adventure. The former Academia Hagi star will be looking to continue his fine form in front of goal this weekend.
