Trabzonspor vs Fenerbahce build-up & previous line-ups:
Heading into the ninth round of Super Lig fixtures this season Trabzonspor sit second in the young championship table behind Fenerbahce whose lead is a single point. Abdullah Avci’s men before this weekend’s fixtures are one of two unbeaten sides — alongside Konyaspor — after winning five of their opening eight matches and drawing the other three. That being said Trabzonspor returned to winning ways last time out at Kayserispor after dropping four points across their previous two games. Sunday’s game will be the 97th meeting between Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor in Turkey’s top division and in the 48 previous showdowns in Trabzonspor’s backyard the hosts have claimed 18 wins while losing 18 times with their most recent success coming in February 2020 when they ran out 2-1 winners.
The most recent Fenerbahce victory came last season when they left the Medical Park Arena with a slender 0-1 win. Dimitrios Pelkas netted 14 minutes from time. As touched upon, the Yellow Canaries on top of Turkey’s top division, Vítor Pereira’s side have won six of their opening eight games with their only dropped points coming in back-to-back fixtures against Sivasspor (1-1) and Istanbul Basaksehir (0-2) last month. Since that aforementioned loss against their city rivals Basaksehir they’ve put together a string of three wins. Stretching back into last season, Fenerbahce have looked pretty decent on the road, across their last 17 away games they’ve suffered one loss while picking up 12 wins.

Player to watch: Anastasios Bakasetas (Trabzonspor)
An ever-present for Trabzonspor this season Anastasios Bakasetas is making a strong case to win the Super Lig’s assist crown and golden shoe. Although he’s completed the full 90 minutes on just once across his previous eight league outings, the 28-year-old Greek attacking midfielder has netted five goals, which puts him one behind the current leader Stefano Okaka of Istanbul Basaksehir. It’s not just finding the net where the 43-time Greece international has shown his worth. Bakasetas has created three goals to date. This comfortably puts him in the chasing pack behind runaway leader Edin Visca (6) who is Okaka’s clubmate. Last time out Bakasetas registered a brace against Kayserispor and in each of his three previous home games he’s either scored or assisted.
