Harry Kane wrote more Premier League history as Tottenham Hotspur ran out 1-0 winners over Wolves at home this afternoon.

The 29-year-old marksman was on hand to help Antonio Conte’s men return to successful ways. After his late equaliser at Stamford Bridge last weekend England’s soon-to-be all-time scorer netted the only goal in Spurs’ second win of this season.

It was a landmark effort. Kane — once dubbed a ‘one-season wonder’ — has now registered 185 top-flight goals for his boyhood club. No player in competition history, which incidentally celebrated its 30th anniversary, bagged as many for a single club. Heading into today’s game Kane shared the record with Sergio Aguero who remains idolised at Manchester City where he lifted English football’s top prize on five separate occasions. Kane is now 75 behind Alan Shearer’s overall Premier League record of 260 goals. “It’s been a fantastic nine or 10 years in the Premier League. Hopefully many more years to go. I always love scoring,” he told BT Sport.

On top of this being a personal milestone for Kane it also happened to be the 1,000th time Spurs scored a Premier League goal on home soil albeit split between three stadiums – White Hart Lane (812), Wembley (65) and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (123). The Lilywhites subsequently joined an exclusive group consisting of Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. It was fitting that a player considered one of their own produced that historic moment which also happened to be his 250th for Spurs in all competitions.

“Harry is for us a player who has to make the difference. We try to exploit him and give him the possibility to score,” Conte said afterwards.

“For me, the big surprise about Harry is not only the football aspect, but especially the person. We’re talking about a really good man. He’s always ready to help the team and work.”
