Jose Mourinho has Bale but West Ham have Tottenham’s kryptonite, Michail Antonio

Tottenham and West Ham enter this weekend’s London derby in superb form and off the back of two gobsmacking results.

The Premier League has rarely stuck to script this season, abandoning the rational dictates of form, and no more so was that evident than on the weekend that preceded the international break.

Jose Mourinho returned to his old stomping ground and watched his side take Manchester United to the slaughter, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min combining brilliantly in tandem to seal a 6-1 win.

West Ham, meanwhile, continued to prove they are the top flight’s ultimate Jekyll and Hyde club, following up from their 4-0 win over Wolves with a shock 3-0 triumph against Leicester.

Such unpredictability has worked brilliantly to set the stage for this matchup, and both sides have reason to be confident heading into the derby, but which way it goes is anyone’s guess.

Mourinho will be particularly buoyed by the recent form of his side, both result and performance wise, and Spurs could be set for an extra adrenaline shot, with Real Madrid loanee Gareth Bale in contention to feature.

“Probably he plays on Sunday,” Mourinho said of the Welsh winger. He has been nursing a knee injury since re-joining Spurs but now looks set to make his second debut, and with three goals against the Hammers in his last two matches, Moyes should be fearful.

That Harry Kane has also found his playmaker boots – the England international so far involving himself in more goals than any other player this season with a Premier League high six assists – only makes the prospect of Bale’s debut all the more exciting for Spurs fans.

Kane himself has also treated West Ham like a punching bag in the past, with his personal record standing at nine goals in his last 10 Premier League games. Should he net on Sunday, then the Hammers would become the fourth different side he has scored 10+ against, adding to Leicester, Arsenal and Southampton.

But, Mourinho is not the only one with a trick (or two) up his sleeve. For Moyes, he boasts the unorthodox but talismanic Michail Antonio in his ranks, a player Spurs rarely keep at bay.

In fact, Antonio has bagged four goals in his seven Premier League games against Spurs, his best scoring record against any club in the top flight. Not to mention he has also scored 10 goals in his last 11 appearances.

With a purple patch to complement his Spurs record, Hammers should be hopeful. The reinvented forward also netted on his last visit to north London, scoring in the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal earlier this season and he will be determined to resume that form.

As it goes, Antonio holds a special place in the history books of West Ham. He scored the first ever away goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and inflicted the club’s first-ever defeat at the new arena. West Ham fans will not be quick to forget that.

And while all the talk at the minute has been on deadline day signing Said Benrahma, Moyes will be turning his gaze to Antonio, Tottenham’s kryptonite, to end his barren run of 12 games without a win over Mourinho. But, who will have the final say on Sunday: Bale, Kane or Antonio?
