Antonio Conte accuses Bayern Munich of being “disrespectful” after they publicly declared their interest in Harry Kane
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has hit back at Bayern Munich’s public interest in Harry Kane, accusing the Bavarian giants of being “disrespectful”.
Earlier this month Bayern Munich chief executive Oliver Kahn talked publicly about the England forward, saying “he is an absolute top striker. So let’s see what happens”, leading to backlash from the top brass in north London.
Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann doubled down on Kahn’s comments by talking about Kane himself, recently telling reporters: “Perhaps one of two or three centre-forwards who can really play centre-forward. The last two years he didn’t play centre-forward, he was dropping as a number 10. But he’s very strong, he has a strong body.”
Tottenham have been obsessive in their efforts to bat away interest in the academy superstar, fending off Manchester City last summer, but it would appear they have another of Europe’s elite actively courting the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner.

Bayern are in need of a new No. 9 following the departure of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona for £38.3m, and it is believed that Kane is in their crosshairs, with speculation only intensifying after Kahn’s recent comments.
Kane has been in fine form this pre-season, recently netting a brace as Conte’s men beat Rangers 2-1 at Ibrox, leading to plenty of excitement for the campaign ahead, particularly after the club brought in Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Clement Lenglet and Ivan Perisic to take on the Champions League.
There is a real feel-good factor permeating the club at the minute, but Conte believes Bayern are trying to derail that harmony and make his squad lose focus after they spoke publicly about one of their players.
Conte explained: “Honestly I didn’t hear this. For sure I’m a coach who doesn’t talk about players from other teams.
“I don’t know why [this happened]. The situation at Tottenham is very clear. The plan is very clear with the club. Harry is a part of the project. He is a very important part of the project and yeah only rumours.
“At the same time, I don’t like to speak about players from another club. If I want to do something I go to speak to the club, not through the media.
“I think maybe it’s a bit disrespectful for the other club. This is my way. This is my way to face the situation with other players.”
