Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller still has a good relationship with the club despite on being a bit-part player this season, according to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Muller has started under half the league games for the Bavarian club this season and has been linked with a move away from the German giants.

Does Muller have a future at Bayern: Five things to know…

  • Thomas Muller joined Bayern as a 10-year-old.
  • He progressed through the academy to become a key player.
  • The German international has made over 300 league appearances scoring more than 100 goals.
  • Muller has admitted he will ‘have to think about his situation’ if he doesn’t get more game time this season.
  • Despite this, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has insisted the player’s relationship with the club is ‘totally intact’.

Despite the fact that Muller has only been a fringe player so far this campaign, the Bayern chairman doubts the German international will leave, although he understands why he may be frustrated.

“I can not imagine that. The relationship between Thomas and Bayern is totally intact and will remain an important part of our club,” Rummenigge told German news outlet Welt am Sonntag.

“If Thomas would sit contentedly on the bench, he would be in the wrong club. That’s the reaction we even want, but he still has to deal with the situation seriously. He’s exemplary.”

Even though his chairman has insisted the player is happy, there is no doubt that Muller will want to play an important role and start week-in-week-out. The 100-capped German admitted that he will have to consider his options should he remain on the fringes.

“If the coaching staff see me as a sub in the future, I will have to think about my situation. I’m too ambitious to not do that,” the attacker told Kicker.

Bayern currently sit third in the Bundesliga, just two points behind current leaders Borussia Monchengladbach after seven games.
