It was supposed to be a very tight and tense encounter between the top two T20 teams in world International cricket. However, the semifinal between India and England turned into one of the most dominant processions of batting that the game has seen.
India had posted a decent score of 168 in their 20 overs. England’s bowlers had done well to restrict them in the middle of the innings but when Jos Buttler, England captain, and Alex Hales, England’s comeback kid, walked out into the middle it was seen as a defendable total. Within a matter of balls though, Hales and Buttler took the game away from India and nothing could stop them. The chase, such as it was, was uninterrupted in its splendour, only brought to a close when Buttler launched yet another six into the stands to surpass India’s total.

This display of dominance from England has had an effect on the betting odds for the final. England sit as an 8/13 favourite with Bet365, which feels a little on the short side. Pakistan had an impressive victory of their own against New Zealand, who beat England earlier in the tournament, in their semifinal. Also, just remember that Pakistan are just behind England in 3rd in the ICC World T20 rankings. This could turn out to be a close encounter.
Though England are deserving favourites, anything can happen in the world of T20. Pakistan may have been underestimated and with their own batting power in the form of Mohammad Rizwan and, especially, Babar Azam, if they have a total to chase they have a really good chance.
