Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich build-ups, pre-match team news & previous line-ups:

Bayern come into the game having qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League following a 3-1 win over Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday.

Victory ensured the defending champions reached the last-16 with two games to spare, meaning Hansi Flick can now concentrate on the Bundesliga, where they hold a one-point lead over Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

They will fancy their chances on Saturday, having won 18 of their last 19 games in all competitions against Stuttgart, who are unbeaten in their last seven Bundesliga games, but have drawn all of their last four matches.

If Stuttgart fail to beat Bayern they will equal a club record by failing to win any of their first five home games, something which has only happened in the 1993/94 season.

  • VfB Stuttgart (vs Hoffenheim): Kobel; Stenzel, Anton, Kempf; Coulibaly, Endo, Mangala, Wamangituka; Castro, Didavi; Gonzalez*.
  • Bayern Munich (vs Red Bull Salzburg): Neuer; Pavard, Boateng, Alaba, Richards; Goretzka, Roca, Gnabry, Muller, Coman; Lewandowski.

Stuttgart will be without striker Nicolas Gonzalez for the next few games after he injured his left knee in the 3-3 draw against Hoffenheim last time out. Sasa Kalajdzic could start in his place on Saturday.

Bayern Munich are without influential midfielder Joshua Kimmich, who is out until January after having surgery on his right knee. Left-back Alphonso Davies is back in training after sustaining an ankle injury in October, but is not expected to play until after the winter break.

Player to watch:

Bayern Munich: Bayern Munich have shown they are fallible this season, conceding 12 goals in their eight games – the same number as Stuttgart – but their attack has been as potent as ever, netting 28 times. Robert Lewandowski just keeps getting better and the Polish striker once again leads the way in the Bundesliga scoring charts this season with 11 goals and four assists so far this season. Once he gets on a roll he is deadly, with four goals scored against Hertha Berlin and three against Eintracht Frankfurt. Stuttgart will need to mark him tightly to avoid a repeat.

Bundesliga 2020/21 recent form:

  • VfB Stuttgart: DDDDW
  • Bayern Munich: DWWWW

Scoreline prediction: Stuttgart 1-3 Bayern Munich
