The agent of PSV Eindhoven forward Steven Bergwijn has admitted he hopes his client joins Inter Milan or another Italian club this summer.

Bergwijn, who scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 33 Eredivisie appearances during the 2018/19 season, has also been linked with Manchester United.

Who is Steven Bergwijn? Five key things to know…

  • Age: 21
  • Club: PSV Eindhoven
  • Position: Winger
  • Career path so far: Ajax (2009-2011) > PSV (2011–present)
  • Key stat: Bergwijn completed 105 dribbles during the 2018/19 season, the most in the Eredivisie.

The 21-year-old was handed his senior international debut last year and has made five appearances for the Netherlands to date.

He has won three Eredivisie titles, most recently in 2017/18, but PSV missed out to rivals Ajax this term.

And Bergwijn’s agent, Fulco van Kooperen, has admitted it may now be time for the winger to move on, with Inter said to be chief among the clubs he could join.

“I hope he can sign for Inter or another Italian club,” Van Kooperen said.

“We’re only at the start of the market. He could come to Italy but at the moment nothing substantial is in place.

“I don’t have any new talks planned with either [Inter directors] Piero Ausilio or Beppe Marotta but there’s time to discuss things again.

“I don’t think Antonio Conte’s arrival changes Steven’s chances of joining Inter.”

Bergwijn could play a part for Holland in Thursday’s Uefa Nations League semi-final against England in Portugal.

The Dutchman has faced English opposition already this season, coming up against Tottenham in the Champions League group stages.
