It’s a clash of top against bottom in Serie A when Juventus travel to SPAL on Saturday.

Despite being pushed far closer than they have in recent years by Lazio and Inter Milan, the Old Lady remain top of the table, sitting one and three points clear of the aforementioned sides, respectively.

For SPAL, this game is equally important, although for very different reasons — Gli Spallini are stranded at the bottom of the Serie A table, eight points adrift of safety.

Can SPAL keep themselves alive with an unlikely win or will Juventus keep the chasing pack at bay? Read on for our preview, predictions, team news and live stream information.

Ones to watch

SPAL: Andrea Petagna

SPAL will be firmly on the back foot in this one, meaning chances will likely be at a premium. With that in mind, the role of Andrea Petagna because even more important.

The Italian forward is by far SPAL’s most potent attacking threat, while his relentless work ethic should come in handy as Juventus try to control possession.

Key stat: Petagna has scored more goals (9) and won more aerial duels (55) than any other SPAL player in Serie A this season.

Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo

Picking Cristiano Ronaldo as the one to watch is predictable, you say? Well, who else?

The Portuguese sensation as scored 20 Serie A goals already this season and if that’s not impressive enough, his next-closest teammate is Paulo Dybala with just six.

Without Ronaldo, there’s no doubting Juventus would be quite some way off the pace in the Serie A title race and he’ll remain a key figure to their challenge between now and the end of the season.

Key stat: Ronaldo has scored 43.5% of Juventus’ Serie A goals this season.

Team news

SPAL remain without Francesco Vicari, Bryan Dabo and Alberto Cerri but are expected to a similar side to that which fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat against Lecce last time out.

Predicted XI: Berisha; Cionek, Bonifazi, Zukanovic, Reca; Missiroli, Valdifiori, Castro; Strefezza, Petagna, Francesco.

Miralem Pjanic sits this one out with a groin injury, while Leonardo Bonucci is suspended. Daniele Rugani is most likely to replace the centre-back with Giorgio Chiellini still working his way back to full fitness.

Predicted XI: Szczesny; Danilo, De Ligt, Rugani, Sandro; Ramsey, Bentancur, Matuidi; Cuadrado, Dybala, Ronaldo.

Squawka prediction

Never say never, but top vs bottom surely only has one outcome, right?

Juventus are being pushed hard by the chasing Lazio and Inter and know they can afford no slip-ups if they’re to maintain their vice-like grip on Italian football.

Don’t expect Maurizio Sarri’s men to take their foot off the pedal here.

Scoreline prediction: SPAL 0-3 Juventus
