The Southampton influence in this season’s Champions League semi-finals is strong
As many as nine former Southampton players could take part in this season’s Champions League semi-finals.
761 combined Southampton appearances amongst the Champions League semi-finalists… and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn't played yet.
Mauricio Pochettino could even be the manager. 😇 pic.twitter.com/0HpOEMJ9vs

Ajax, Barcelona, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have reached the final four of the competition, and three of the semi-finalists have a lot to thank Southampton for.

Liverpool, in particular, have made the most of signing players from the Saints and developing their talent even further.
Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk have been instrumental during the Reds’ run to the semi-finals, while Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana have also contributed.
Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain is yet to make a first-team appearance this season because of injury, but he is yet another former Southampton star who could feature against Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Tottenham pair Paulo Gazzaniga and Toby Alderweireld both spent time at St. Mary’s before moving to north London.
And Dusan Tadic has completely revived his career since leaving Southampton for Ajax last summer; he’ll be eager to make an incredible season even better against Spurs.
Whether the above is a source of pride or frustration for the Saints is up for debate among the club’s supporters.
What’s clear, though, is that Southampton have played a major role in the fortunes of this season’s Champions League semi-finalists.
